gone fishing

holy fuck I think this is the longest I've ever gone without posting.

IMG_2833

The worst part is that I'm still having awesome adventures and party-all-the-times and taking too many photos, just not posting any of it. It goes so fast we don't have time to look at one another.

IMG_2832

Here are some photos from Saving Grace a week or so ago.

IMG_2829

I had never been in there but then I went again a few days later. It's very good. I will still always prefer Aunties because that's where my heart lives. Also Aunties has more things I can eat (fucking gluten fuck around) like how come I never get the mango chickpea salad?

IMG_2835

No, Saving Grace is good. And I suspect if you like meat and gluten it is very good.

IMG_2834

I'm in Saskatoon right now. It's my mum's birthday today. You would think I'd be tidying up the house for her but instead I am blogging and eating (gluten-free) apple pie with vanilla ice cream.

IMG_2827

Went to the lake for a few days. I will post photos. I read a sad novel, hung out with family and an oldest friend, and sat on the beach holding a very very tiny baby. Perfect life? Possibly.

I'm still very much trying to wrangle my life to include living in Saskatchewan at least part time.
Although I'm just not sure how this is going to happen. I might have to get a Saskatoon husband.

Aw man, maybe I could have a Saskatoon husband and a Toronto husband?
They wouldn't even have to know about each other necessarily...

Tiny twinges of homesickness for Toronto. And people especially that I miss.

Though I shouldn't watch three episodes in a row of True Blood before bed like I did last night. Now I'm pretty much convinced that a babe I know is for sure a serial killer.

(Also I found myself yelling "You can't come into this house! I take back my invitation!" a lot.)

8.20.2009

I got nothing for y'all

the heat is sort of wearing
I'm working every day until hometime (next Tuesday!) and I'm not really into that. I'm pretty sure last night's co-worker pilfered tips. nice! From my tip box $97, from his $62 or something. Hmmmm.
He is pretty rude to customers though. Maybe that's it.

I was in such a good mood at work last night but also felt completely unable to deal with the horrendous levels of BLATANT RUDENESS I so often encounter there.

1. DON'T TOUCH MY TIP BOX. Do not move it out of your way. Do not put your hands in there even if you're just making change for yourself, I can help you with change no problem.

2. DO NOT START ORDERING FROM ME IF I AM NOT LOOKING AT YOU. Especially if I am counting money. Holy Presumptuous.

3. DO NOT INSIST ON GETTING THE ROUND FOR YOUR FRIENDS AND THEN NOT TIP. Ohhhh yes, you are oh-so-very generous... oh wait, nope.

4. DO NOT COMMENT ON HOW MUCH FOAM THERE IS ON THE BEER WHEN IT IS NOWHERE NEAR YOU. The kegs are constantly blowing/effing up. I will never pour you a draft that's all head. Please do not assume that I will.

5. DO NOT GRAB CUPS FROM MY STACK WITHOUT ASKING. Those cups are all accounted for and could cost us (from pocket) up to $10 each.

6. DO NOT FREAK OUT ON ME BECAUSE OF THE PRICES. You are at a giant sporting arena. What did you expect? Also, you must know that I do not benefit from these prices.

7. DO NOT MAKE COMMENTS ABOUT TIPS/ASK IF MY TIP BOX IS FOR YOU AND THEN NOT LEAVE A TIP. (this always happens. Always.)

okay.
I think it's safe to say that I've worked in the service industry too long.
Come on, acting career!!

My 18 year old brother has been in town the past couple of nights. He didn't really do much/see much of the city (probably my fault) but we had a lot of fun, actually.
I moved away when he was not even 13, so I really don't know him at all. Kind of funny, that. He's a solid guy though. And I took him for sushi and shwarma (sp?) both he'd never tried. And of course to Aunties.
And drinking in the park (cool older sis points).

okay work time. Working on building up a good mood en route. It's supposed to thundershower which means I get to wear my new rain slicker!

8.14.2009

no good reasons for ya

I don't really have any good excuse for not blogging except maybe "I don't feel like it". Can't really explain why that is... I guess I'd just rather watch True Blood, or something?

I'm not enjoying this heat. It is not my favourite, I do not do well in these temperatures, I wilt like the delicate-petaled bloom that I am.

Speaking of which, I went for a "run" the other night. I was in a bad mood and I had a headache from not leaving the house all day and from watching four episodes of True Blood, so I decided I might as well go do something unenjoyable while I was grumpy. I'm pretty sure that's a good theory.
It ended up being kind of fine. I went at about 1 a.m., so the streets were pretty quiet and I ran around the neighbourhood a bit, avoided main streets and I didn't wear my eyes so I couldn't tell who was around anyway. I do not like running in public. And I do not like running at the gym, so I guess 1 a.m. is pretty much my best bet... it was kind of nice actually, because it was cool out and no one could see my BRIGHT RED FACE.
I get so effing red that it's kind of remarkable.
Yeah. It was okay.

I still hate exercise.
Even though it made my headache go away.

1.5 weeks until hometimez! I have to tell you, I really could use a vacation. I work too hard!
ha!
I haven't worked at all this week, but I am working 9 shifts or so in the next 11 days. Load up on the dollars, pls.

Okay I have a big announcement to make.
It has to do with what I'd like for my birthday and Christmas.

IMG_2821
I want more dishes like these. I love them.

this one is my favourite:
IMG_2822

I love all of them, though.

I bought this little guy at Value Village the other day for 49 cents.
IMG_2826
That was a good deal. They didn't price it right.
You may have to go antique stores or something to find these for me. But I want them. I want to have a full fancy set of mix-matched pieces by the time I have my first mansion. I am not kidding around.
IMG_2825

UGH they are so beautiful.

I know that I already posted this:
IMG_1700
but I want you to know that I want that stuff.

Hooooooly Christmas is going to come so quick you won't even believe it! Or maybe you will, how should I know?

Also this morning I watched most of Wayne's World and drank too much coffee on an empty stomach and now I feel insane. In kind of a good way.

8.11.2009

no pictures for you I can't procrastinate any more (or can I?)

HOLY SHIT I CAN'T GET DOWN TO WORK PROCRASTINATION NATION PARTY TOWN HEY I SHOULD PROBABLY CLEAN THE HOUSE/START A NEW PLAY/DOWNLOAD SOME SONGS/RESPOND TO EMAILS/LOOK FOR A DOCTOR/DO THE DISHES/MAKE TEA/DO MY NAILS (INCLUDING TOES).

Hey, Meredith, resist much?

Blogging is awesome when it helps you procrastinate!

I really like my name. I frequently get complimented on it. My first name, I mean.

LOUD CHRISTMAS CAROLS. WAKING THE CAT UP FROM HER NAP EVEN THOUGH SHE'S ANNOYING WHEN SHE'S AWAKE.

I just worked a lot of days in a row and partied all the time, feels like I just got back from the cottage but I guess it's already been a week.

I have a few days off in a row right now!
I'm so tired of my jobs!
My goal is to have a job where I do not have to wear black pants! I'm so sick of black pants!!! (Did I say that a lot already?)
I went to Value Village today to see if I could find black pants that I could stand wearing. NOPE.

I did buy a fucking sweet rain slicker though. Holy hell it's nice. It's one of those reversible ones like you had when you were a kid. Navy on one side and the rubbery side is lighter blue. BRING ON THE TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS NOW!

Went to Pizza Libretto last night with Dollface and her friend, we got the $25 prix fixe dinner which is still very expensive for me (I'm lazy and broke!) but it felt kind of worth it (Dollface paid for mine) -- you get a lot of food, we all had some of our pizzas packed up
various kinds of bruschetta (sp??)
warm green beans and potatoes in pesto (love green beans) (DF chose the spinach and strawberry salad instead)
pizza (any of the ones on the menu -- mine was spelt crust (!) mushroom and many cheeses)
desert (I ate both my and DF's, custardy and fruit deliciousness

Went outside during dinner because our server told us to go look at the sky. CRAZY STORM CLOUDS. Pretty neat.
Waited an extra 45 minutes after dinner trying to avoid the rainstorm. Didn't work.

Hit up Dakota because The Beauties were back and I just can't say no to dancing to that shit. Got to got to. Pretty fun dance moments. I was sober-ish. I didn't stay 'til the end, am I losing my party-all-the-time spirit? Probably.
:(

Tonight the BFF brought me as her date to go see Billy Bishop Goes to War at Soulpepper Theatre. Her BF cancelled last minute so I got to go instead. Lucky me!
The two performers were the ones who created the play and originated the roles, so it was extra, extra neat. Eric Peterson (yes, my bff, and star of Corner Gas) played Billy Bishop and he was pretty great to watch. I love going to the theatre. I have a bit of beef with Soulpepper in that I find their tickets pretty unaffordable and I don't know something about them seems snobby. Theatre should cater more to... me.
No it was pretty lovely to have the BFF all to myself for once, she's busy learning how to be a lawyer and stuff I know, but I miss her sometimes. Because she's very pretty.

Okay the search feature at the top of this blog 100% does not work. Hmm. That means any time I've relied on it to tell me if I've already told you about something it maybe didn't tell me.
WHATEVER.

DEFROST THE REFRIGERATOR, WRITE LONG OBNOXIOUS BORING BLOG POSTS, EDIT PHOTOS, COMMENT ON EVERYONE'S FACEBOOK STATUSES, WHINE AROUND AND LIE ON THE FLOOR.

okay. working time. in five minutes. shit, it's 2 a.m. almost!

8.07.2009

car ride to cottage time!

IMG_2317

First of the photos, still trying to organize and edit them all. Too much work!

IMG_2319

Drove up the first time on the Sunday night with three girls I barely knew. All of them are friends of Dollface's and Prune's so I'd met them a bunch but didn't really know them, ya know?
Of course the minute we're all in the car we start discussing oral sex and periods and junk -- Ohhhhh girlssssssssss.
Awesome fun times though.

IMG_2320

IMG_2321

Hal Johnson quickly became my number one partner in party-time-crime. We held it down and just maintained in the backseat with our liquor, leaving the two ladies up front to worry about directions and make sure we get there safe. I love not worrying.

They did party a bit in the front, and I was glad.

IMG_2322

IMG_2323

Those fries from Harvey's were the GROSSEST things I've tasted in some while. They were so plain and gross and greasy and gross. The ones in my hand there had just fallen on the floor and now had dirt and hair in them. I did not put them in my mouth. Very much.

IMG_2330

IMG_2331

IMG_2332

I told Hal Johnson that I would photoshop in a sunset behind her so that she'd look as rad as I did. But I didn't!

IMG_2337

Okay that's all I got stamina for right now -- my stomach's been upset off and on for the past few days. You would think that I would stop drinking and see if that would help. But I won't! Don't want to go to work tonight, only want to lie around and watch TV-on-the-internet.
It's Prune's birthday today and so I'm also supposed to go and party with her tonight. Ugh I wish I felt better.
Pepto Bismal, work your magic, please?

the sad part is, we didn't.

8.05.2009

of course it was hottest the morning we had to leave

back from cottage country -- it was pouring pouring buckets of rain as we got back into the city but I still made it to work on time (barely).

I feel very strange to not have had one single bloody mary today.
Holy, Hal Johnson and I practically lived off those things -- lots of vitamins in the tomato juice at least.

I guess I'm going to have to start thinking about editing all those awesome photos I took and think about rounding-up some of the fun things that we did.

Working the next few days in a row, I know that I deserve to have to work, but I still really don't want to.

Oh yeah, I booked my trip to Saskatoon at the end of August. Did I tell you that already? I'll be there from the 25th until the 2nd I believe.
I'm very very excited. I had kind of resigned myself to not going, wasn't expecting to see the fam before Christmas really, but now that it's booked I can feel free to get really riled up about it!
Planning on going up to Redberry Lake for at least a night, hopefully two. Planning on seeing all my besties and partying down a bit. I hear my brother got a new car, you know what that means: getting driven around everywhere!

Also, Dollface and I are planning to go the cottage in September or October as well, I think a fall cottage vacation would be killer killer fun.
I'm way into vacationing. New favourite passtime.

I can't believe it was only this morning that I swam and kicked about in the water, it feels like last week already.

Tilda Swinton is very very glad to see me at least. Niki was awesome and looked in on her for me but I can tell she's been lonely lonely.
She should probably get a real home soon, one with proper owners who are more responsible and have time for affections and attentions. Sigh.

8.04.2009

links and photos and sad news altogether now

Still at the cottage most likely, so here are some pictures of me and some links. probably more interesting than if I were actually here actually blogging.

IMG_2433

Fuck You, Penguin -- I really think this is funny. "A blog where I tell cute animals what's what" Because they need telling for sure for sure.

IMG_2432

I'm such a big fan of Craigslist. No, but honestly. I've bought computers and cameras and ipods off it and even had missed connections.. so this site is awesome because of how dumb the world is.
You Suck at Craigslist

IMG_2428

IMG_2420

It was brought to my attention that one of my friends had never seen the story about Christian the lion. So here you are, just in case you somehow have never been on the internet at any point in your life:

Hmmm. So, I found out on the weekend that a kid I went to highschool with died. He was into doing that roof-jumping thing, jumping from roof to roof I guess? I didn't even know that that was a thing, but apparently it is and apparently you can fall off of them.
Such a bad scene. Tragic.
So maybe don't do that, okay, thanks.

8.03.2009

less than I'd expected

I'm trying to get caught up on getting photos onto here. Good luck on that one, I know. I'm so behind it's not even funny. I'm just not that good at blogging! Oh wells!

IMG_1928
Okay here are some photos from weeks ago -- Deck's birthday, I believe. Though I can never remember when that is even.
Holy Shit is this cat ever FUCKING HUGE.
No, it's so big though.
IMG_1921
I don't think these photos do it justice. It's massive. Like a muskox or some shit.
IMG_1926
Our hands are about the same size!
IMG_1927
Close, anyway.

Here is a photo of Deck from his birthday:
IMG_1918
He refused to look better, so it's his own damn fault.

Hmm. I definitely thought I had more photos uploaded that I could post. Boring!
I'm hoping to get more photos edited and sorted and arranged while I'm at the cottage. it could happen. Or I could just be sitting in the lake. Whichever.

Owen Sound Road Trip Round Up Last Part (3)!

(actually I think this might be part four but WHATEVER.)

Okay so the next day we went to Sauble Beach. Tried to go to a more private lake so have a quiet swim but we were denied and so we sucked it up and went to this social paradise. So many people! The kind of beach my mum would haaaate.
IMG_2227
The kind of place I would've loooved as a young teenager.
Felt sort of like an American movie, I think that'd be the only place I've seen giant, crowded beaches before.

I don't think I've ever been on a beach with half as many people. In Saskatchewan there's enough lakes for us all to each have our own.

IMG_2222
It was pretty cold, actually. Not too cold for swimming though. I swam the longest for sure. Quail didn't even go in at all! It was delicious after the first few minutes, it just took some getting used to.
IMG_2224
There were giant waves that crashed into me. Giant wave to jump into or swim away with or get knocked over by. So lovely.
IMG_2225
I liked how many babies there were running around. Very very cute. The obnoxious teenagers, not quite as cute.
IMG_2226
We wrapped our beer cans in things so that no one would suspect that we were drinking in public!
IMG_2220
Cpt's says "SODA" now everyone is fooled for sure.
IMG_2221

I've been wanting my special Blizzard from Dairy Queen for so goddamn long except every time I try to go and get one they're out of one of the ingredients that would make it so perfect. I've seriously been after this for about 5 months.
IMG_2229
Smarties with mint (not chocolate) and extra skor added in. Seriously seriously.
Want another please?

After the beach, the rest of the gang went back to the city (lame) and Deck and I stayed another night.
Went to see Bruno with Deck's friends. I was not that keen on seeing it, but it turned out that I did kind of like it. The best was how offended people get by that movie. It's not a great film, but I thought parts were pretty effective and pretty funny.

Went and drank beers by another bonfire in their backyard. Such a nice house, apparently they buy them and flip them. I think they should keep that one, it had a pool!
I bet I would get nothing done if I had a pool. Well, I'd get a lot of lounging done.
They kept this big TV box just to put on the fire. Pretty impressive. IMG_2231
I spent a lot of time this trip standing back from bonfires.
IMG_2233

IMG_8158
IMG_8155
Kind of regret not jumping into the Georgian Bay. It was freezing though, the thought of it even now makes me cringe.
IMG_8156
Gorgeous, gorgeous.
IMG_8157
IMG_8149
Man, I really like that cat. I have such a soft spot for giant tom cats. Especially really deadpan ones.
IMG_8162
IMG_8152

IMG_8164
Mum always makes fun of me for taking pictures of food. I think it makes total sense. I made this omelette. And it was alright. I wish I'd been hungry for it. I mean I really want it now.
IMG_8166

Okay that about sums up the trip, oh yeah, except on our way out Deck took me to a couple of the town's thrift stores. I love smaller town thrift stores! Favourite activity! Anyone remember/know the "Mennonite Clothes Basket" in Rosthern (sp?), Saskatchewan? Best thrift store.
Anyway, i got a very sweet pair of moccasins and a pair of Ked's that are like little brown suede booties.
Riveting, I know.

Well, I hope you're having fun while I'm lounging in the lake...

Owen Sound Road Trip Round Up Part two!!!

Okay so then we drove on to Deck's parents' house in Owen Sound and Deck and Cpt. made me ride in the backseat and I didn't want to and I had to read skateboard magazines because I was lonely.
IMG_2219

At Deck's house his parents had gotten us a shit-tonne of food. So much! We had burgers and salads and fruits and I made guacamole (delicious, obviously) and basically ate our faces off. In the best way.
IMG_8123
IMG_8115
So what if I were drinking Bud on ice? So maybe I like Bud? (I do kind of like Bud and also it's way less gluten than other beers!)

I obviously changed into sweatpants pretty much as soon as we got there. COTTAGE LIFESTYLE. So comfortable. It was kind of chilly but also perfect.

IMG_8127
IMG_8128
Deck's parents were so happy to see us, his dad insisted on taking photos for me, pretty awesome. I love how hard we're all eating. Uh Huh.
IMG_8129

IMG_8120

IMG_8116
The dog at that house is basically nuts. It bolted at top speed back and forth across the lawn about 1 billion times. Relentless. Kind of cute, too.
IMG_8117

After dinner we were sort of sitting around moaning about how much we'd just eaten and we see Deck's dad going down the slope with a can of gasoline -- one should really pay attention to people carrying cans of gasoline.

IMG_8130
He made us this awesome huge bonfire with this pile of old branches and stuff -- when he set it on fire it made the loudest WOOOSH explosion sound it rattled the windows of the house and scared the shit out of us, wasn't expecting it at all at all!
IMG_8131
To get a perspective on the size of it, bear in mind that that bench by the water is normal bench size.
IMG_8133
IMG_8135
We had to sit far back from it at first.
IMG_8139
IMG_8140
Drank some beers, ate some candy, talked about really, really deep things.
IMG_8141
So nice out. Seriously though.
IMG_8142

Deck's parents have an awesome cat who's sooo old and nice and calm and doesn't really like to be picked up (still did).
IMG_8145
The dog wants the cat to be besties but the cat walks by himself and all places are alike to him.
IMG_8146
Yes, those stairs do lead down into the Georgian Bay. Such a nice property, so lovely to sit by the water late at night.

Okay therein ends part 2.

I had an unexpected bit of time this morning before leaving for cottageparty2k9part2 so I'm making some entries and then I'm going to try and set them to auto-publish. We'll see if it works out!
