ever just hang out with your fam and put your hands on your faces? We do!
there was almost certainly a lot of bossing going on before this photo was taken.
IMG_7022
bet my mum wishes she didn't have such blurry children. haahaaa ugh, sorry. terrible joke.
My bro's been bugging me to post these photos for awhile and since I'm SUCH A GOOD SISTER I'm finally getting around to it. You're welcome, brother mistletoe.

IMG_7021
People really like my mum. I don't know why. Except she's probably the kindest. Oh, we've been over this before? Well neverrrr mind, then.

E and I both kind of look like her and like each other. We have different biodads, though so it's okay if we're not like twinners or something. I'd like to see E's biodad, that'd be a trip.
Also, my biodad, obvi.

IMG_7020
No, really, guys. Menu time.
Sorry for not photographing other people at this table. Well, at least we got some family portraits done.

I like Las Palapas. I miss Saskatoon. Always this time of year I miss Saskatoon. I kind of think I will only be able to afford to once this year. Via has last minute fares that are only like $150 right now. I wish.

IMG_7025
ready?
IMG_7027
yeeeah
IMG_7026
fucking nailed the landing.
hahaha gremlin face on me, hey!

I've had a fucking craving and a half for that weird do-it-yourself soup I get at Las Palapas. Anyone know what that shit's called? I tried to make something like it... it was just alright.

IMG_7028
Goddamn, I am one fine specimen. Where did they find the sperm donor to make such a lovely and delicate flower of a lady?
Haa, E looks rather handsome here, too bad about me ruining this photo.

Yeah so I'm home again. Alone. Again.
Not spending money, not socializing. I spent noooo money today. Beat that. Not even a coffee or anything.

I get busy starting this weekend basically, start having a lot more shifts and making money money money.
Remind me that I need to not go out as much, still. And that I need to start using my dollars to pay my bills and act like an adult and shit.
No, don't remind me. I'll only want to punch you.

Clothing swap at  Russet & Empire tomorrow! I am excited for new clothes and wine and new buds. All of that!
And clothing swaps have definitely been saving me in these frugal times. I think half my wardrobe now is swapped. Amazing.
Let me know if you want to come along, obviously.

In other news:
IMG_3540
Mini-flask necklaces!

IMG_3547

I've had questions on where/how to get these and for how much, etc.
The young ladies pulling cans of PBR out of their bags in the bar washroom were very impressed by them! Plus, it's the one gift I've gotten Dollface that she has truly appreciated. Hahaaa.

IMG_3551

I was considering making an etsy page but I don't really want to give them a percentage. How about if you just tell me if you want one and I'll make it happen?

IMG_3553

$15/each
$25/two (great gifts!)
$5/shipping (Canada and U.S.)
less if you need, 20 if you're rich. (I don't know anyone rich now that I think of it.)
plus if you're a bud, it'll come pre-filled. haahaaa so handy. and if you live/work anywhere within a reasonable distance of me, I'll deliver it. I mean, I don't have anything else to do, really.

IMG_3557
The blue one in the middle there, that's my favourite. I can't deal with how much I like that pattern. I made two. One for me, one for you.

IMG_3559

Okay. So buy one. I can do special requests in terms of the paper that covers them, also. If you have ideas, let me know.

BYE NOW.

I got nothing for y'all

the heat is sort of wearing
I'm working every day until hometime (next Tuesday!) and I'm not really into that. I'm pretty sure last night's co-worker pilfered tips. nice! From my tip box $97, from his $62 or something. Hmmmm.
He is pretty rude to customers though. Maybe that's it.

I was in such a good mood at work last night but also felt completely unable to deal with the horrendous levels of BLATANT RUDENESS I so often encounter there.

1. DON'T TOUCH MY TIP BOX. Do not move it out of your way. Do not put your hands in there even if you're just making change for yourself, I can help you with change no problem.

2. DO NOT START ORDERING FROM ME IF I AM NOT LOOKING AT YOU. Especially if I am counting money. Holy Presumptuous.

3. DO NOT INSIST ON GETTING THE ROUND FOR YOUR FRIENDS AND THEN NOT TIP. Ohhhh yes, you are oh-so-very generous... oh wait, nope.

4. DO NOT COMMENT ON HOW MUCH FOAM THERE IS ON THE BEER WHEN IT IS NOWHERE NEAR YOU. The kegs are constantly blowing/effing up. I will never pour you a draft that's all head. Please do not assume that I will.

5. DO NOT GRAB CUPS FROM MY STACK WITHOUT ASKING. Those cups are all accounted for and could cost us (from pocket) up to $10 each.

6. DO NOT FREAK OUT ON ME BECAUSE OF THE PRICES. You are at a giant sporting arena. What did you expect? Also, you must know that I do not benefit from these prices.

7. DO NOT MAKE COMMENTS ABOUT TIPS/ASK IF MY TIP BOX IS FOR YOU AND THEN NOT LEAVE A TIP. (this always happens. Always.)

okay.
I think it's safe to say that I've worked in the service industry too long.
Come on, acting career!!

My 18 year old brother has been in town the past couple of nights. He didn't really do much/see much of the city (probably my fault) but we had a lot of fun, actually.
I moved away when he was not even 13, so I really don't know him at all. Kind of funny, that. He's a solid guy though. And I took him for sushi and shwarma (sp?) both he'd never tried. And of course to Aunties.
And drinking in the park (cool older sis points).

okay work time. Working on building up a good mood en route. It's supposed to thundershower which means I get to wear my new rain slicker!

12.28.2008

yike

oh yeah forgot to tell you my brother and I made the same joke at the same time the other day.
My aunt said that something was bothering her repetitive strain injury and both Brother and I were like
"Maybe you should stop repetitively straining yourself"
So it's official, I have the sense of humour of a 17 year-old boy. But then you knew that already.

there is a very very pink round baby in my living room

look at that mess of grilled cheeses

One tradition that has been upheld since I moved away from Saskatoon is going for Grilled Cheese Platters (aka GCPs) with Constantine (and also SteveDave when she is around).
christmas ice cream bar!
Const is usually a babe but you wouldn't be able to tell from these pictures. He is also ridiculously funny and fun. When you hang out with him you can just laugh and laugh and laugh and he'll probably throw things at you (if you're lucky).
eeeaat it
open-face ice cream sandwich
Steve is very pretty and she and I used to work at Jerry's together and she was a grump and I found that very funny. And we are best friends since then. Now all of our friends are friends but back then we were from sort of different circles and I remember one time I ran into her in the mall before we were friends and she stopped to talk to me and I thought "why is the prissy girl talking to me" haha but then at work I noticed that she was always reading fat books on her lunch breaks, bigger books than I even read. Like Rohinton Minstry and she seemed to even to finish them!
stevedave
I told her to smile with her eyes.

Grilled Cheese Platter invariably get messy, especially the ice cream course. For sure. But this time I was for sure the worst. And I had them both dabbing at me with napkins which was very sweet and since Const is usually the biggest embarrassment, I didn't feel very badly.
can't take me anywhere
i'm a distaster
so wahht
For some awful reason Constantine has decided that he'll have longer hair and it looks pretty bad. But it is also funny. Especially when he puts it in a ponytail with a bandana on (barf!).

Even if he moves it around it still doesn't look good
stevedave practices manual focus
holy attractive
No, really, I swear he's good-looking.. I think. Hmm, now I'm uncertain...

You guys want to know a secret? My brother is very nice. He is part giant for sure (must have been his donor-father because it sure didn't come from mum's side of the fam) and he likes guns and violence and war movies and crime novels and he goes to Mennonite house church (no one in my family is religious at all). But he's one of the nicest people I know (moreso now that he's 17 and bit calmer and we fight less and he is not quite as irritating). For my Christmas/birthday presents he is driving me home from parties this holiday season. This means staying up until three or so when I've decided I've had enough babe-chasing and then coming to fetch me (in the 40 below weathers). This was my gift last year and I have to say it is the best gift ever. Especially since I have a tendency to pile my girlfriends in and make him ferry them all around. All my girlfriends are so impressed by what a genuinely nice guy he is. I think they like my present as well.
Also he is very good with our little cousins. Today and yesterday he is looking after the baby Pteranodon who is one and he is so good with her. He plays beautifully with her and carts her around and doesn't even expect me to do anything even though I'm sitting in the same room with them.
And you can tell he really loves her. And doesn't resent baby-sitting or anything. Kind of neat.

(Edit: He just walked in and said indignantly "HOW CAN YOU EVEN SERIOUSLY LISTEN TO THIS SONG" which was Mercy by Duffy and I said "what do you mean?" and he said "IT'S SO BAD HOW CAN YOU EVEN LISTEN TO IT?" so, you know, still a teenage boy.)

KITTEN FESTIVAL::
haha kitten cuddles
not best friends
aw the baby
adventure cat "christmas"
oh lordy Adventure Cat is so pretty and little and soft and would make greeat moccasins.. just saying.
christmas kitteh
Oh yeah, for Christmas everyone is getting:

A Bag O' Lolcat!!
rerun and cactus
these guys aren't kittens
cute twin kittens
omg these two are so cute they are twins in different colours
twinsies
the only two kittens in their litter and they were both breech and I pulled them out by their hind-legs! I know, right?
sink cactus

Home is nice. I've mostly been going shopping with my aunt(s). Got a sweet plaid flannel shirt yesterday that is totally something that my mum would wear and then I got told I was "very hip" at the show last night. It wasn't even buffalo plaid!
But yeah, hit up Value Village, the malls, the new Indigo store and McNally Robinson. Kind of fun. But also getting to be too much shopping! (And too much family!)
teapot pictures

cut up eggie
classic Mistletoe-household little eggie on toast
little eggie on toast

Hitting up the town a lot with Carlos and Magpie and co. Partying down, etc. So many people who don't live in Saskatoon anymore, back for the holidays. I'm getting very worn out by small-talk. I just can't even deal with it. Especially last night because I wasn't drinking because I was driving (Brother had to be up early to look after the baby so he couldn't come to pick me up). Sober small-talk with people I don't even really care about very much isn't very fun. Too many people I vaguely know.
No it is fun. I had a nice time driving around late at night last night also. Dropping off some drunk girls and then the city was so quiet.
And, guys, this city is so stupidly beautiful these days. I can't even explain. Frost coating all the trees along the riverbank... It is also remarkably cold. Even for Saskatoon. I felt like my nose froze and got frost bite in the 2 minutes it took to clear off the windows of the car last night.
Minus 40 about with the windchill! Biting, biting cold.

Party parties scheduled upcoming. Kind of exciting, get to see lots of people I've been missing and needing to catch up with..

more gift wrap!

No really, I needed all that

Hey, you know what's a good and fun and exciting way to waste time AND money?
Keeping buying craft supplies!
Oh, the potential!
I own so, so, so many crafts supplies. Way too many! I will never do all of these crafts... but geez... the possibilities.

I did it again today - bought a bunch more things.. hopefully more practical things, sort of. BUT STILL.

Also got my brother some very rad stocking stuffers - if I was certain he wouldn't read this, I would tell you about it, but I am not certain.
But I will say that Urban Outfitters has oddly good stuff for obnoxious teenage boys who only like violence and bad jokes.
(Okay, fine, he probably likes other things... but I can't think of any.)

Urban Outfitters is annoying in general because I want everything from there and can't afford any of it. UGH.

Went to Urban Barn and got my friend some of the most beautiful Christmas decorations I've seen. I came very close to buying a few things for me in there, but I refrained! congratulations, me!
If you want to shop for me there, though, they have
a) Gold checked (not really checked, tone on tone of metalic squares sort of) square serving plates ($6)
b) Green tray - really simple grayish-green tray, sooo pretty ($9)
c) glass bird ornaments ($5)
so many pretty things...

I'm very into trays. Easy way to cart messes around.

Oooookay. Ready to do some crafts... or watch more 30 Rock. Something like that.

Also: OMG blueberry pancakes at Aunties today! So fully loaded up with them too...

Hey guess who has fat arms?!?

This guy!

Yeah. Yesterday my agent and I discussed my need to "tone up".
If you ever have had body issues or don't want body issues do not become an actor.

Agent is completely right and he also told me about how great I am in the film that I leant him to see. That the film is lovely and lots of stuff for my demo reel, etc.

He said Canadian actors especially don't take their bodies seriously. We have a niceness that ends in just not getting cast instead of L.A. where they will tell you straight up.
And he's right. It is my job to look my physical best and be the in the best physical condition and appealing and attractive

I'm think I'll just gain 20 pounds and be a character actress!!!

.

I'm allowed to tell this story because it's following up how ugly I am and we all need to feel a bit better.

My brother is 17 and in high-school and a bit of a loner and always reading. Anyhow he was reading in class the other day and across the room some of the boys started talking about the ice breakers commercial and dude says, "That girl in that commercial is hot!"
Needless to say my brother snorted loudly and responded with "Don't talk about my sister like that!"
