getting down to (half an hour of) work
I've been at Green Grind all afternoon with Noodle and only now are we even possibly starting to get some work done.
We started out at Nirvana for breakfast/lunch.
It was real late. But the wifi wasn't working there so we had to move. The server from there came into here and said "hey, you guys found your wifi!" pretty funny!
I feel still a bit messed from Nuit Blanche, anyone? Or maybe I'm just totally into staying up late all the time because I can. Dayssss offfff multiple daysss off in a row! So lucky! and so broke. I need to book a job then it would be smooth sailing like the calmest pond with the safest boat.
Last night I had a bit of insomnia for the first time in forever.. and by insomnia I clearly mean that it took me about half an hour to go to sleep instead of the usual immediate pass out that I am used to.
It's funny how furious I get when sleep isn't coming to me. I can feel it right there! I can feel it, why can't I get to it!
Then I fall asleep so suddenly. Or at least it seems that way to me. Crazy dreams last night, I'll go right ahead and blame it on Dexter for sure. When Dexter feels sad I feel so sad! Dexter shouldn't feel sad, he's Dexter.
I love TV. The internet just told me I should watch lots of TV to write TV. OKOK INTERNET.
Noodle is good at talking to everyone. She chats up strangers like they are her best friends. I do not possess this skill yet. This confidence.
Also, Noodle is so good looking that I find it rather unnerving to be with her. I don't know how to explain what I mean by that, even. hmmmm. Makes me insecure, maybe? How do I get to be tall and thin and blonde with giant sparkly blue eyes??
Man, I've been being such a know-it-all lately (FINE this does not differ from the usual but maybe it's more extreme). That's an annoying characteristic. I've been stressed out by other people's situations or my situations with them, or their patterns or my patterns and then I want to fix things or figure out why I'm upset or why they're upset and then man, I just start to talk like an over-calm patronizing asshole. Dreamy!
I was finally getting down to work and then stopped to write this. I'm going back to it though!
I'm teaching myself about script writing and TV writing off the internet. Who wants to pay for me to take actual classes with actual deadlines?
Internet is helping though. It's funny forgetting that the internet knows pretty much everything. "have to get a book on that" ooohhh wait, the internet will know!
Drinking a funny drink that is fermented tea. It tastes rotten! Kind of good?
"Kombucha Wonder Drink" (wonder why it tastes rotten? it's rotten!)
There is the flippin cutest teenager cat tabby cat who is hanging around my house lately with no collar on and Prune and I picked him up the other night and he PURRED and PURRED the motors on those things! If he is around for much longer I am giving him to JL for sure. JL secretly loves cats so much. I am trying to talk him into fostering for Toronto Cat Rescue as well...
We tried to make a video today of how I looked like a school child in my pink rain slicker and backpack but I don't like how my hair's so thin in it it looks like I'm balding. How do I even manage to like myself mostly? Hard work.
Everybody's birthday parties are this week! I'm hoping for babesandbabesandbabes.

shotgun wedding
Hey so who's going to come with me tonight to this: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=305792141196&index=1?
Paaaaarty! Let's get hot with Chris Locke and Aaron Eves, also this is the line-up:
Scott Thompson (yesssssss, that one)
Dini Dimakos
Bobby Mair
Graham Wagner & Mike Balazo
Jon McCurley
Brian Barlow
Kathleen Phillips
Although I dreamt last night that I went to this by myself and took Ruth Buzzi but I had to leave her outside because she's was meowing too much and then I went inside and curled up on the couch and no one was there and the performers were refusing to perform and I was trying not to fall asleep and one of those guys was talking to me but I kept making loud jokes overtop of what he was saying and then I remembered that I wasn't allowed to take Ruth Buzzi out and about because she's my foster cat not my own cat and that's one of the rules, not letting her out of the house.
Aaaaaaaanyway,

Death Comes to Town (on business!)
Weird, I still haven't blogged really about hanging out with (read staring creepily at) The Kids in the Hall.
Sass took me along with her to the Rivoli for a pre-screening of their new show Death Comes to Town.
Hahaa, I'm so funny, I was so excited to meet this guy, Jesse Camacho, he was so lovely and sweet, he's the star of Less Than Kind.
Here's a trailer for it:
I watched all of it online on the CityTV site last year and you should catch up, too! It's moving to HBO Canada for this season, which could be real good for it.. You can look at their new site: Less Than Kind Online. Oh yeah, Mark McKinney is one of the producers/writers..Wow it's link central around here today.
AAAnyway.
I got crazy but Sass stayed cool (she should be a bassist she stays so cool).
You know what, though? Sass is really funny. To me she's funniest when I least expect it. Or when she's really hyper. Or when she pretends not to know how to speak English.
Then we gave some funny people some fingers! I'm sure they appreciated the humour of the situation!
Scott Thompson is possibly my favourite Kid in the Hall. Is it rude to pick favourites?
Also Mark McKinney.
Also all of them, actually... Anyway, I think that Scott is especially lovely.
This article in Torontoist made me love him even more, and also let me know that he as a google alert set up for his name in blogs and stuff. Too bad I'm sure that everyone is writing about him these days so he'll never even notice how much I care....
SIGH.
Chris Locke is very very funny and Scott Thompson thinks so too, that's a pretty big endorsement, I'd love to have Scott Thompson get behind me (SEXUAL INNUENDO).
Chris Locke was very worried about his forehead-pimple. We were all too polite to say anything, good thing he pointed it out so that we could all acknowledge (and photograph) the elephant in the room.
Awww fun times. Did I mention it was open bar? I really need to stop going to places like that.
Oh yeah, I stole a lot of these photos from Sass, so you can go over to her to see more. Yeah? Yeah.
Haha Bruce McCulloch came over to me and was like "You know in the series, Death has a thing for redheads...." I just laughed so hard.
Yes, so watch the show! You can catch up online: www.cbc.ca/kidsinthehall, especially watch this week's episode because on of my favourite past co-stars plays a hot french puck bunny.. not to be missed!
Wow, seriously link party around here today. You're welcome.

grammar party
I watched Home Alone the other night with JL and his roommates and ate catering left-overs and his nicest roommate (seriously this guy is so nice!) gave me whiskey and cranberry juice.
Anyway, I totally forgot how awesome Home Alone is! It's so great!
He's soooo little, though. So teeny tiny. That never really registered with me when I was a kid, how actually little he is in this movie.

"I went shopping yesterday. I got some milk, eggs, and fabric softener."
Also, I love his tuque. Get it for me?

Is it weird that I find it interesting when people talk about spelling and grammar? Also when it comes up on our online family forum (awesome/embarrassing -- whatever, you wish your family liked each other enough to want to communicate all the time on the internets) I kind of like it.

My family is quite smart and I'd wager it's the puzzle part of the grammar/spelling stuff that we find entertaining.

I did not know my granny, as she died before I was born, but I'd be willing to bet that a lot of our ridiculousness comes from her.
From my aunt on the forum:
"Once when I was walking through Eaton's I saw a sign which read: The Stationery Department has Moved. So I repeated this to Mum and she laughed, then added snootily, "I suppose you don't know that the word stationary is spelled differently when it refers to writing paper and when it refers to movement."
She was right, of course."

I do get a bit annoyed when people are terribly uptight about all this, but that is mostly because I'm self-conscious of being not-the-best at it.

My mum has a best friend she's known since university (although it turned out that they grew up mere miles from each other) and she always refers to this woman as "my Friend" and whenever she only says "my Friend" then I know who she's talking to. Anyhow, this woman lives in Ottawa, not in Saskatoon but she's visiting my mother this weekend. She emailed my mother her plans for the visit:
"Actually, I think you and I differ in our expectations of this visit.
My idea is that I will spend several hours pouring out my heart,
describing my woes, and you will sit there with looks of compassion,
understanding and concern flitting across your face. Oh and
admiration! Respect for my courage and forbearance in light of these
trials and tribulations. Occasionally, I will pause and gently
encourage you to share some of your own difficulties. Fortunately, you
will not expect me to listen long to these trivialities! How does that
sound? Oh, and then we will just get drunk. No, first we will eat,
and then we will get drunk.
OK!"
Yeah, I'm finally sort of getting around to editing/posting photos from my Saskatoon visit in August. Except not really. Except I bet it'll be another few months until they're actually all done...

my blog is not like this blog
100 Massey is not the kind of blog I normally read.
Although, to be fair, I'd prefer it if I read a whole bunch of different sorts of things.
Anyhow, I like it.
Quite a bit, actually.

I think I like it because it's like a more realistic version of a party photo blog. It's dirtier and less good-looking and more appealing to me somehow.
Less hipster more truthful.
Unidealized but still romantic. Does that makes sense? Kind of.
It looks like what I'd like bits of the TV show I'm writing to look like.

I'm only stealing the photos that have me in them, that seems fair.
You should go look at it, though. I like the photos of beers and backyard parties and people giving the finger and dudes losing various items of clothing and everyone drinking whiskey. And the ones of drugs and shot glasses and random people making mean faces and the babes on skateboards. And I like the captions.
These guys, this group in general, have this sort of ruthless confidence that is really appealing.
And that I'm kind of jealous of.
Yesterday at Aunties and Uncles McGruff gave me some tomato tortilla soup to take home and I've eaten almost all of it already (3 bowls).
I love Aunties and Uncles. That's all.

two best videos
that I've seen today.
How effed is this?? I want to see this episode! I kinda hope it's aliens and not nazis. Pretty crazy either way.
And actually this one I saw yesterday and it has been absolutely everywhere on the internets, but in case you haven't seen it:
I know, right?
Holy piss it's pissing rain outside and windy, I can hear it.
I prefer light melty snow to cold, cold rain. Especially in November!
This is not Christmassy at all!
I thought I was going to get stuff done tonight but instead I've been watching tv-on-the-internet and going through my google reader.
Now I'm going to go walk the dog and then hopefully by the time I come home I will be ready to accomplish things like all the gift-making I meant to get done tonight... We'll see!

I remind me of fall
HOT DAMN THIS IS A GOOD CUP OF TEA.
Lately I just haven't been drinking that much tea, I got through phases, I guess. I drink a lot more coffee. I should stop, I'm getting too reliant on it.
I did have tea the other day (last weekend, already??) with Sass at Aunties. It was a weird fucking day where neither of us took any pictures. Rare.
I never believe that cleaning up my house will make me feel better/more creative/more energetic. Too bad, it always does. ALWAYS.
My house isn't even close to tidy (check out clothes mountain in the background, etc) but it is a lot better and all of a sudden all my crafting supplies and writing desk look so much more appealing. It's a lovely feeling. I hope I don't blow it by surfing around on the internet all damn day.
A cleaner house makes me enjoy all my possessions about a billion times more. This teapot + cup (the teapot sits on top of the cup!) are my mum's but she leant them to me indefinitely and I love them. I never use them though. I'm going to start. I have so many lovely things. And so much junk. I should get rid of things.
I've been playing with the settings on this point-and-shoot. I miss my dslr, I'm in the process of getting another lens. Soon, hopefully.
But I like this new "cloudy" setting in the programmable. I like the programmable setting, in general. Getting great pictures with a point-and-shot is probably harder than using an slr.
Right, then.
Didn't mean to go out last night but when I was at Dollface's after walking the dog I was busy watching Medium (shut-up that show is so bad it went back to good again. No, not quite.) and then Dollface called and said she was on her way home and then we would PARTY. And since she promised I could have some prosecco I decided I'd stick around.
She brought home another friend and we drank that prosecco and then headed to the drake for about one minute then moved next door to the Beaconsfield where a fellow bought us some shots (yayayayay shots, I'm not supposed to do those at all). Dollface was chatting up a babe and so we went with him and his friend (I'm a good little wingman!) to Lakeview at about 3 a.m. for grilled cheese and stuff.
Pretty fun times, I've been thinking about taking a party-break but it just isn't happening, my life just isn't built that way.
I got that green sweater at Honest Ed's the other day. I can't explain how much I love Honest Ed's. That green sweater is from H&M I guess? Kind of funny. Also, I didn't see any more like it. Random. It is more green in real life than in those pictures. It will be good for Christmas (which is two months and one day away - in case you're keeping track). I also bought some sweet little black boots:
Honest Ed's has a lot of mittens and tuques for super-cheap right now, in case you're wondering. Also, their nylons cost one dollar and they are pretty decent. Not as good as Dollarama, but still.
