beach beers in mid-march

here is a new video I made where I talk about my last name and my surname plans in the future of my life.

I have a weird thing about Dairy Queen Blizzards where I basically won't eat them unless they have my kind. Except my order is obnoxious: smartie blizzard but instead of chocolate syrup I want mint syrup and then I want to pay to get extra skor bits added in.
SO GOOD.
I have been to known, in the past, to literally walk out of Dairy Queen if this is not available for me.

also good is eating ice cream and drinking beers on a "beach" by the lake in the middle of March. It was a bit chilly, I'll admit, but so sunny and nice and there were so many dogs playing and families hanging out.
Spring, man.

oh good, let's take pictures of each other with our phones. classic, classic.
Hey, that's one of the ten million places I work right behind there. Baseball again, soon.

I don't think I'm responsible enough to have long hairs. Every day is a new awful tangle. This summer is going to be the worst. I need someone to follow me around and brush my hair for me.

Late late nights, guys, party 'til dawn
kids forever kids forever and ever party to the moon cheers for fears

summer summer summer, man.

I'm going to go walk to work right away here and it's 18 degrees outside so... life is pretty alright.

After beach beers I took the dog to the park for awhile, then met Carla Ghee and Norman and co. at Squirley's for patio hang-times, then went to see that new Will Ferrell movie with Nicole, then hung out with Nicole at mine and made a stirfry and drank gin.
FULL DAY OF FUN TIMES.

I'm making up for it today by hanging out solo all day and doing some laundry and maybe some cleaning in a minute here... I should make soup.
Work tonight and then Rap Battlez with some of my favourite people and everything is looking up, guys!

this face!

If you haven't voted for Cheryl Hann (from picnicface!) to go into space then I would very much suggest you do so. I have never heard anyone be so excited about anything. And I like people who excited. Especially excited for space adventures. You can click that vote button 10 times a day, apparently!

I guess without winter we wouldn't get the excitement of spring

My new improv team (which I am beyond over the moon about), WHITE PANTHER GIRLFRIEND, will be having our very very first show on Sunday March 25th at 8p.m. as part of Unit 102's Sex Dungeon improv nights. If you consider yourself my friend I would challenge you to attend this show.

No, but if you are my real live friend from real life who wants to still be my friend in the future,
we have the official dates for our second city conservatory grad show:
Saturday June 16th in the afternoon
and
Thursday July 5th at 10:30
so put that in your calendars, thank you very much

I got another job (now I have seventeen, approximately) working in the office of a local theatre and rental space and I'm pretty into the idea of working in an office and being office-y. I can make almost anything a party/event in my mind. Wonder how long my office enthusiasm will last!
I really just like being able to wear my own clothes. Take that, black pants!!

I bought different gluten-free bread because it was on sale but it's kind of powdery not the best.

looks so good, though

this is how most of my afternoons are spent, watching my roommate do tricks with his cats.
I've honestly never met cats as obsessed with their owner... and viceversa, actually.

this guy is my favourite when he's drunk or when he's doing impression of what improv is like.

big plans, big plans, guys. big big big life happening all around, ya know what I'm saying? #spring

still waiting on my witch powers

Remember how yesterday it was so warm and fresh and spring all over?
And today is steadily getting colder and is damp and wintery? Gross.

Remember how talking about the weather is a super interesting topic and it's a really good thing I have a blog?

It should be illegal how much my mood is effected by the weather.
Luckily in a minute here my laundry will be done and I'm going to go hang out with the dog down at the lake and then pick up some groceries and then later Nic is coming over to talk about our lives and plans and stuff, and then after that I am hopefully going HOT-TUBBING (if this falls through I will be murderously upset, jfyi guys good now we're clear).

#bedside (sort of)

I thought I'd be real good at the march photo a day challenge but it turns out I'm just not good at getting around to things! So I'll be a part-time photo-a-day-er.

#myneighbourhood

this is obviously something I think is good. It's also obviously so good.

aaaaaaand this:

#somethingIwore
Out on my little balcony yesterday afternoon. I'm also drinking a really delicious smoothie here (just frozen peaches and strawberries with soy milk. thick like ice cream almost). Nice life, guy!

Yulie's back in town! She's not living with us anymore, she's moved in with her BF a few streets over. But I'm still very glad. I just love her. Probably best she's not living with me so I can't be mean to her. She's so earnest and warm. Good, good news.

I got called out by Nic the other day for being a bad worker. This is my main classic move. Not being good at working. I don't like to try for fear of failing. Guess where that's gotten me!
But also, I'm having troubles, comedy-wise, because I'm not sure I understand it all yet. Ha, obviously! What I mean, though, is that I don't know why I appreciate the things I do. I don't know how to turn a funny moment I enjoyed into a polished joke/bit/scene/etc.
I need a lot more work, but also probably a lot more guidance and I'm going to have to learn what I need and how to ask for it. Hmmmmmmm.

Just thinking about things, just thinking about it.

little brown birds on a shirt

this is my favourite shirt right now, so soft like pajamas and it has the most wonderful birds on it. have I posted it before? probably.

Do you ever wonder if things happen for a reason?
I wonder about it a lot, not that I think it's necessarily true, but I do wonder about it.

I wonder about why I decided to move when I did. I love living in Ossington Dreamhome. I'm surprised by how hard I find it, and in what ways, and I'm not planning on living here for my whole life, but it is very good for me right now, I think.
And it's changed my life in a lot of good ways, and my attitude maybe.

I wonder a lot about deciding to audition for the Second City conservatory when I did. I'd heard about the program before and considered applying but never got around to it. And now I'm in this class with some of the best little buds I've met. Our class has been referred to as "an embarrassment of riches". We are a great group. A surprising percentage of us are serious about comedy and prioritize it. And all of us have different things to bring and are hilarious in our own ways.
It's remarkable.

And now, starting this improv dream team... I wonder at how I've gotten so lucky.
Seriously. I am so excited for the possibilities with this team. We are so well-matched I think and each of us are such exciting performers.  Like the potential with this group is just... overwhelming.
Ha, to me at least!
(little bit biased. not biased.)

here's a terrible beautiful photo of my teammates! such beauties. I don't know why Peevy's having a little smiling siesta, but it's his padded elevator so I guess he does what he wants. Mo-dav's face is a bit broken.

this is the view from Violet's balcony. I've (we've?) been making more efforts to hang out and that is just another way in which I feel outrageously lucky.

Life, guys, this particular life. So wonderful, so difficult.

Sometimes I think about spring and summer and warm sunlight and it starts to hurt I want it so bad.
This time of year is always hard on us.

please spring, be now

Today would be a good day to follow me on instagram. Oh, how I love instagram.

Man, I sure love a lot of things today. Spring, man, that must be it.

I bought hyacinths and am enjoying my valentines flowers to their bitter end.

I was up and out of the house by 11 for a couple quick errands and it was so warm and sunny. Nothing makes me feel like a luckier lady than when spring starts to hit.

I'm not feeling super well but I'm weirdly powering through it (very unlike me) to do some projects and take photos and stuff. I haven't even watched any TV today. Super bizarre.
Spring, man.

finally got around to hanging some of the crystals from a broken chandelier I found in an abandoned house in Saskatchewan last summer. I've given a few of them away, gave one to my roommate, Catdad (that's what I'm going to call him from now on because the cats follow him around like his little children and he's obsessed with them. in a good way), because he asked. So he's got one for the morning light in his upstairs bedroom.

I'm a big fan of Catdad. So far.
We are both around all the time in the days so it's good we get along. He's very, very silly. And pretty much everything he says makes me laugh. just too silly. He frequently comes downstairs to ask me "serious questions" such as, "does my hair look weird parted to the other side?" and so on...

I had a few of my favourite people over last night to watch the Oscars and Catdad joined for a bit and later he told me, "I stayed quiet and unfunny as I could so people would think you were lying about me".

Finally started going through a bunch of people's pinterest pages. Just sucks you in, doesn't it? My family's pages were especially tasteful (who is surprised!?) and it made me miss them.
You can see what I'm posting: pinterest.com/ohmistletoe, if you like.

I got a surprise (I mean, I knew it was coming I just didn't know so soon) package delivery from my mum this afternoon. Oh how I love a good package (HA HA).

Look at this cape! (I know it's technically a poncho but I really like the word cape better.

I'm pretty pleased with it.

My aunt commented on this on facebook and said "I think you might actually BE your mother."  Maybe not quite, but I do love my mother and also admire her so that is not a bad thing to say to me.
These pictures do particularly make me think of my mother. In several ways.
Funny that my aunt wrote that, though because today I was going back through the tiny magazines I made years ago and found this

too true, too too true.

there was also gluten-free gingersnaps and fair-trade chocolate in this package. Congratulations for being exactly what I wanted to eat today!

this is what my hairs are doing these days. I'm still very torn as to what I want to do with the colour. But I'm also kind of feeling this roots business. I almost wish there were more of a constrast. So much natural colour right now, the most in years.

I like when I look a bit older and plainer, like in these. Like a little mum, like a good person, like a kind little bud.

haaaaaaaa, oh you know what I mean.

Things are going really, really well today. As we've discussed. But I'm also sad. The good kind of sad where it's for a good reason. Does that make sense? Probably if you're a sensitive artist-type like me.
No, what I mean is like I'm homesick and I really miss my mum and family a lot right now. And I'm worried about my future.

Also, sometimes being a good person and good friend is hard.
I talk a lot about wanting to be less selfish. And I very much would like to be a kind person and a good friend. It's funny when one is faced with a situation that tests that. You can either be a good person OR you can have what you want when you want it.
I'm very much a giant brat, so guess what I normally choose.
Anyway. I'm trying to be better. Baby steps, kids, baby steps.
