don't choke

brunch yesterday at Saving Grace. Yeah, sometimes I don't go to Aunties. Unbelievable, I know.
Saving Grace is outrageously good as well, just my heart belongs to Aunties, ya know?

I was a bit disappointed they didn't have their espresso avocado shake thing, but luckily there will be a next time.
We were all a bit haggard from the night before. classic party-all-the-time lifestyle. I was actually miraculously fine even though Dollface and I had done a drinking tour of Ossington and I had done not one, but two shots (I have a no shots policy) and even eaten a (gluuuuten) falafel on my way home. Baaad idea. But then I was fine, actually.
Some night are just like that.

Today in the park Kaya was chewing a branch and managed to get a bit of stick caught in her throat and was sort of panicking about it and trying to get it out, which made me panic a bit, also. But luckily when I was trying to hurry her out of the park (stopping every few feet so the she could madly dig at her face and try to burrow away in the snow) she must have shaken it loose. And so everything was okay and I got her home and she was eating and drinking fine.

I hate when animals are upset. And babies. It always gets to me. I can't imagine the panic and fear that parents must feel when their babies are in trouble.
Still want babies though.

Seems like everything fun is happening on Friday, hey? I hate when all the fun things are all in one night. How am I supposed to decide? I feel like the best decision would be staying home, but I probably won't!

I'm still kind of hung up on the idea of roommates. Also pleased to be living where I do. Opinions?

who's gonna love you baby who's going to love you now

happy tuesday!

I just got back from brunch with one of my favourite SarahBs, and now I'm getting up the energy to run some errands and finish up some projects. Good goddamn my life is too exciting.

This is the tiny flask necklace I decorated/made for SarahB. She will fully appreciate this type of thing, I feel, being the party-all-the-time type that I so admire.

Before brunch I ate the last one of these:

mini flourless chocolate cupcakes with snowflake sprinkles. Oh god so good. I was beyond pleased there were some leftover from the potluck. Cheesepie, after my own heart that girl.

So many of my friends have lived in that building. Actually one of them passed by twice while we were sitting there and he blew multiple kisses my way. Yeah. I know.

Pretty much just biding my time (and seeing some loves) before I got back to Saskatoon on Thursday. Oh-so excited. I've pretty much decided that I'll finish up my Christmas shopping there. I mean, that means I can shop with a car and not have to cart it all home from Toronto. I am mostly done but still. It's not like I won't have time in Saskatoon to pick up a few things. Right? Right.

Great breakfast at Boom. Raymi put giftcards for there in her party giftbags. pretty sweet! I love eggs and beans and guac and fries and yeeeeeah that's the way to start the day.

At one point SarahB was talking about her babe situ and she was like "it's all happening right now, like, Boom!" and I was like "like..boom...?"
terrible ahahahaaaa.

Do you ever wish you could live part time in the 70s? Yeah, me too.

Because my cousin is my most avid Christmas-supporter-partner-in-crime type I have finished her pre-Christmas gift. What, you wish I were getting you a pre-Christmas trinket? Then get better at Christmas.

Ohhh yeah, also, new Sweet Thing music video -- Watch here!
morgan directed this one. Which is amazing but I am not surprised. So cute, all the buds! Also this song is growing on me especially the "who's gonna love you baby" part.

Go vote for them for best Canadian album. Except when I linked over there I realized there were so many other new albums I haven't even heard yet and really want to!

you fancy, huh?

it's been weeks, weeks, since I went to brunch. How did I let this happen?
Well the time has finally come again. I've picked out a great outfit for it, I refuse to brush my hair, and I'm sporting a sweet little hangover. PERFECTION.
no. I'm serious. sometimes I fall in love with Toronto all over again. Maybe it's this giant 7-eleven coffee talking but man, life's so fun.

I have way too much to do I should not be going to brunch at all.

buuuuuut I am still going to go. I work hard (no I don't) and I deserve it.

got my first christmas card today! celebraaaations. Ohh plus Cpt. Heh took me out for a birthday coffee and treat yesterday. celebrations for miles!

also! I went to my agency Christmas party last night and my agent told me about how great I was looking. I keep forgetting that it's a good idea to visit my agent regularly to keep him updated on my beauty. and my wit.

wait. also! I bought a Christmas dress yesterday. It is dark blue-green satin and it has a short bubble skirt. in love with it. get ready to get fucking sick of seeing pictures of me in it. So excited!!
fancy forevers!

"just like the song I am taking on my business"

Here's the second pair of Cougar Boots I received.
Rrrrrred (red is best) Tibet style rainboots!
I flippin love rainboots so necessary, especially in Toronto. Especially if you're going to walk everywhere forever. I kind of can't wait for spring to really put these babies to best usage.
These are really well lined and thick-soled in a comfortable way. Also the sock-type upper part can be folded over or pulled up slouchy-like or folded down into the boot for extra lining. I like variety. I like to see what I can do with things.

Coulda used some red-eye-reduction. too bad for y'all.

I took Dollface out for a belated birthday brunch romantic-date stylez today. It was pretty lovely. Aunties is so busy all the time forever now. Even on a fuckin monday afternoon. The table near us were taking up a lot of room so Doll and I were both sitting on the same side of the table. It does feel oddly more intimate that way. Awww.
After brunch Doll and I drove around the city a bit. Cars here for sure feel like a treat all the time, hey?

I'm thinking I should maybe get back on track in terms of Life-Job. I'm really getting behind on things (ha, I've never even started anything). Okay yeeeah I'm going to do it.

I bought a couple of little Christmas gifts today! It's going to be here so quick like you don't even know it!

do it all up in cloisonne

I want these cloisonné owls SO MUCH!
I actually went into this store (Dundas just East of St. George) to buy one and then realized that I really could not justify spending $10 (more for the bigger ones) on a figurine for no reason.

this is what I want for Christmas, though. I am not joking around. Whoever gets this for me for Christmas will be my hero. Who wants to woo me?
Oh they are just too beautiful. I would like a couple, actually. And I think all of them are beautiful so don't be shy about picking them out. I bet other stores in Chinatown have them too. I'm not even that into owls but I do like these ones so much.

I did buy a couple of pairs of pearl earrings, though. Somehow I managed to justify that to myself? Who knows.

Brunch at Cafe La Gaffe in Baldwin Village. Baldwin Village, I always forget about you!
So lovely such a lovely fall day, unbelievably warm out we just basked in the sunlight.

Patio was complete with a cat!

It came around to say hello and then went to sleep right by the sidewalk. too cute.

I had the brown mushroom/swiss/spinach omelette with such good hashbrowns and a serious salad and pieces of fruit on the side. I'd just come from the most boring shift at work so brunch was an extra-special-treat, it seemed. Laid-back, friendly server, too, who was pretty lovely, he made a jam bowl and set it in the garden to try to lure the wasp away from us.
I hope that someone thought he was trying to feed that to the cat.

My skin's been super crazy lately in a bunch of different ways, it's nice when it looks soft and nice in photos. I wish I had a healthy body that worked in all the ways it's supposed to. I wish I had skin that healed easily.

And I wish I blushed less. Actually, maybe it counteracts my rudeness sometimes? 'Ah she can't be that mean, she's blushing..'

Less than two weeks until Christmas season (at least in terms of retail and planning stuff) is in full swing! I'm behind already! But still very excited at what's possible and what I'll get around to!
Such a lovely lovely little season.

GUYSES, it looks like I'm getting free glasses from clearly contacts! they were having a give-away! I mean, I couldn't try them on so who even knows how they'll look on me but I am still V excited! I love glasses! glassesglassesglasses
Plus my old dark plastic framed ones are broken and my clear plastic ones are less appealing ever since a babe said they looked like science goggles. HAHAHAHA not that much of a babe, apparently. I'm good at experimenting. No I'm not.
And my olden-timey ones aren't the most comfortable and sometimes they feel like they're a bit much.

IMG_1171

okok these are the ones I chose. Good? Yeah.

Anyway, I just have the pay the $15 shippping. Not too shabby. I've ordered my contacts from them before and always had super good service and they're into being really great and friendly and easy to use. Like it.

Oh man, it's funny how easy it is to go from being like "my career's bad, nothing good will ever happen" to being with it again, positive.
Turns out it just takes two auditions in two days that go well and you look good for and having good hair.
IMG_1185

Man, good hair is hard to have. If you're me and have the thinnest, finest hairs ever which don't hold red dye for anything. But lately I've been doing an okay job of coming close to having the long luxurious hairs I've always dreamed of. and it's mostly kind of soft. When it's not dreadlocking itself rubbing on my shirt collars.

IMG_1188
Also good hair is kind of the only thing that matters in terms of being a pretty girl. No? Close though?
I wish I had natural curls and I wish my hair would grow longer and longer and be the shiniest ever. Pipe dreams.
Oh you don't care that much?
IMG_1160

Today I had an audition for a TV show and I only had 1.5 lines and there was no character description to speak of. Those are kind of hard! Not much to go on. I felt okay about it and the guy said "great fucking read" which is nice and makes me feel better about it. Plus I felt like I had a good outfit on. I am THE WORST at dressing for auditions. I find it so painfully stressful.
I mean, I can normally outfit myself in real life but jeeeeezus all the restrictions on what you're supposed to wear and also how to keep a bit of personality plus cover up things you want covered (fat arms, etc.) plus no tears plus professionalish. Ughhghg. I honestly wish I had a stylist who would just decide for me in times like these.

I'm working today tomorrow, right through Wednesday, actually. Too much! Of course I deserve it since I was on vacation for two weeks there. But still.

Oh, also I have an embarrassing story for ya real quick.
I was on a date the other night. I rarely go out on dates. I mean, I hang out with dudes sometimes but rarely it is a date with someone I barely know. Bizarre sport, that. I resisted doing tequila shots and I resisted canceling I don't know how people do this on the regular.
ANYWAY, on the date I open up Facebook on my phone and of course the first thing that comes up is a picture of him. Which he saw. Obviously. Ughhh the last thing I'd been looking at (I was showing Dayna, actually, the night before) was his profile.
IMG_1190
Emmmmmbarrassing. But also funny.

IMG_1155

Today I bought some chia seeds because apparently they are a super food. I will eat them and get tough. I will get my omegas and my iron. They were very expensive. Most healthy things are. sshitty buzz, eh.
I forgot to pick up more quinoa. Speaking of expensive healthy things.

IMG_1195

Okok rambly entry I haven't even had coffee today although I did have so much coffee last night and beer at the same time and it was a sweet combination, I'll tell ya that.

my little bud from Saskatoon is in town and I'm going to Auntiesss with her in a few minutes here. I know I've knicknamed her on her but good lord knows what it is. She's cute, anyway.

I wish my new glasses were here now!
I wish I would have a billion more auditions and book everything!

8.30.2010

it's five in Toronto luckily only three here

We made it through the wedding! Congrats to my aunt and her new husband, they were very cute and I had a super good time. We were all exhausted by this evening that it wasn't even funny. My aunt's sick and actually I had a headache so bad I thought I would throw up. And my stomach was completely fucked by how I was eating bits of gluten like it was no big deal. I don't know why I constantly think I am not allergic to gluten. Not the smartest!

Rerun and I are chilling out
Here are me and Rerun chilling out. These are from two nights ago but we look pretty much exactly the same right now. Such a dearface.

Haaaa Rerun's grumbly face is one of my all-time favourite things.

I took these photos in the airport in Toronto. Pearson now has free wifi! Niiice.
I just watched True Blood and ate some (rice) macaroni and cheese casserole. This is maybe the most alone time I've had since Wednesday. I should be asleep right now, but at least I had a three hour nap this evening to recover from my headache.

It's crazy how being around people affects me too much. People think that I party-all-the-time in Toronto because there's so much going on, but really if you're good at party then you can do it anywhere!

I frequently wonder if I would love the prairies as much if I actually lived here full-time. I don't think I'd appreciate it nearly as much if I had never left. That's for sure.

I am not kidding about wanting to live here again. I love Toronto and all, but man I breathe easier when I'm here. I breathe easier around my mum and family a bit too (even if they do drive me nuts).

I'm nowhere near being done with Toronto, but I am ready to spend more time in Saskatoon.
My friend Coriander from college never ever wanted to live in a smaller place like her mother, was very into being a big city girl and a famous actor and now she owns the sweetest flower shop in Parkdale and has just purchased a home in Belleville.
pretty funny/great!
It's only a failure if you quit trying to do something that you want to do. If you don't want to do it anymore then it's success.

In like 3 years (5 years) Mrs, Noodle, and I are going to have a book/gift/toy shop for kids and mums and then when that's going good I'm going to open up a brunch place in Saskatoon. Brunch is really only now starting to catch on in Saskatoon.

I've been to The Park Cafe twice already since being back.

Used to have a hard time deciding where to have lunch until this place came to be. Now I see people I know there every single time.

Black bean veggie burger or breakfast with fried eggs, hashbrowns, fruit cup. Yessssssssssssss.

On Thursday while everyone was at work or doing wedding stuff I meant to go to Value Village but instead I drove out to Warmen (easier to get to, traffic is insane in this city!) and went thrift shopping at the MCC Gift and Thrift. I got this dress! And a sweet black bunnyhug and a black purse and a gift for Mrs. and a gift for the newly weds and glassware for me!

Nice colour!

Oh yeah, Park Cafe gives you free suckers. I ran into this friend and made her take my picture. This is right outside the MCC furniture shop I was on my way to. I found some sweet things there as well.

I have to decide if I'm going to get one of the steamer trunks they have for sale there and if I should get the little blue one ($30) or the little black one with the tiny drawers and hangers ($50)....

Mum thinks I shouldn't take up all the space in the car with my steamer trunk but I waaaant one, I've been wanting a trunk forever, although i wouldn't mind a wooden one now that you mention it... hmm. I plan on making my mum stop in thrift stores across the country on our way back maybe I should wait and see...
RIVETING SHIT, THIS BLOG.

I still haven't seen some people I need to see but now that wedding weekend is over I have a few days for more socializing and more Saskatooning.

Oh yeah, also, since I'm going to be thrifting, I will also be looking for Christmas/birthday gifts, so if there's anything you need me to keep an eye out for then let me know!
seriously!
