guysguysguys I don't have much to say at this particular moment. I feel the weight of not-updating on my shoulders, though!
A couple of my favourite people have shared this video for me, it's a amazing:
Aaaand here are a couple of quotes from my diaryland circa 2k6:
"i've decided not to date while i'm thin because it's just too misleading."
"there is something fighteningly unappealing about being asked out by a guy tying up dead and naked chickens (or quail or whatever they were)."
Life is good and all that. I'm still struggling with every single thing that I've already told you about. Is it possible to have too much free time? If so, I'm there. I need to learn how to wrangle myself!
I need a wrangler? I need some wranglers?
I 100% did not buy a taquito tonight and I fully, fully wanted to. Instead I came home and had some water. Baby steps, baby step.
Oh yeah, so my friend and I were making a billion jokes about how much we hang out in front of the 7-11 and then the next day I had coffee with Violet and she said "you know a car drove right into there, right?" hahaahaha nope. good thing it was after I was done sitting in front of there. She forwarded me this picture:
amaaaazing. they drove right through the brick!
In union station they have booths set up to sell things, yeah? Well they have some of the most beautiful stripey pashminas in there. Sort of like this one:
so prettypretty. The ones they have are nicer. WANT. please? please?
Christmas is creeping up so soon and I'm so involved in my own drama/bit of depression (I'm not really depressed I'm just into sleeping forever and ever) that I keep forgetting to get into the spirit. I live for this, I should be making the most of it.
That's what tomorrow is for, I suppose!

she's oooooooooooooookay, I guess, if you like cousins. which I don't.
since it's only the end of the day when you go to bed (RIGHT?), I thought I would take the opportunity which is my favourite cousin's birthday to tell you why I like her.
1. She's my closest cousin (therefore I can say she's my favourite all I like because all the other cousins have better things to worry about)
2. She's very smart (I would be that she's smarter than you. No but really.)
3. She has stupid-cute offspring. Ughhh why does everyone get to have babies and I don't?
4. When I was little she would sleep over sometimes (oh yeah, she's 7 years my senior so I always looked up to her in a big big big way) and she taught me how to change without ever getting fully naked. Useful Skills (for gym class in 9th grade)
5. She's the reason I'm vegetarian (just kidding, it's JTT's fault for sure, but she's also to blame as I joined her bandwagon when she decided to go veg... I believe hers lasted about a month and mine is going on 13 years... you have beef (aaaaaaaahahah) with my vegetarianism and slight combativeness surrounding such issues, talk to my cousin!

6. She thinks I'm really funny. Now, of course, I think she's very funny as well, but I do appreciate that she fully appreciates my sense of humour and goes with it. I'm not that easy to understand sometimes and also she could have chosen to see me as her annoying little cousin forever more, and instead she seems to have realized how SPECTACULAR I am. Good work, team.
7. The world of ZIGN (how would you even spell that, cuz?) -- we played forever in my backyard and in the magical world that she made up that we got to by swinging a special swinging way on my jungle gym in the backyard (I can't tell you exactly cause I don't want you to go to there) and we were the princesses there! BEING THE PRINCESSES IS THE BEST.
Also, good work cousin on not making yourself the queen and me a lowly princess cousin sort. You are great.
8. We both don't have dads. Growing up for awhile there it was the five of us - mum, me, cousin, aunt and other aunt. FIVE BEST FRIENDS WHO LOVE EACH OTHER MORE THAN ANYTHING.
And to be honest, it's still a bit like that (I'm the luckiest girl) just with more people involved and a bit more distance and such.
But my cousin and I were both kids of single mums and smart and with big imaginations and the ability to play by ourselves and not rely on everyone for everything. Kinda makes sense.
9. When she babysat me she let me talk on the phone with her boyfriends. She did spend the entire time on the phone so it was only fair. Haha, no but she always had so many boyfriends!!
10. I taught her how to drive a bit at the gravel pit (holy shit son I miss going to the gravel pit with my family so fun like sliding down the gravel hills and climbing up and collecting the best tiny stones and making up stories, you don't even know. sometimes I fully forget how fucking great my whole family is. okay, not really, but sometimes I forget some of the specifics.) and she didn't know at all and wasn't a pain about it at all and we drove round and round. So fun.
11. She loved the Micra almost as much (more?) as I did. If only her bf hadn't totaled it!!! just kidding still like him I guess. Christ, I loved that Micra, it was my first car, so tiny and compact and made of freedom and speed and mostly freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeedome. Anyway, she understood that as well. She really did.
12. She's still the kind of person I look up to but also allows me to become a person that she'll admire in some ways too, I think. She has let me become her peer in a really lovely way and I loved having her come hang with me in Toronto and yeah..... you know.
13. This isn't really one, but one year a freight train overturned right beside our land (we own land by a lake that is also along a railroad track) and we played on the overturned cars and climbed on them and looked inside and I remember loving my cousin so much at that point, and her being such a moody teenager... haaa so lovely, ya know?

(there we are sitting on top of one of them, she's slightly apart from brother and I... perfect.)
Okay that's enough for now. There's a trillion more but now I'm crying and I don't feel like crying I feel like going to bed and it's very late! and so that's enough. Haaaaaaa, ridiculous.
Love you forevers, obviously, gosh.

car ride to cottage time!
First of the photos, still trying to organize and edit them all. Too much work!
Drove up the first time on the Sunday night with three girls I barely knew. All of them are friends of Dollface's and Prune's so I'd met them a bunch but didn't really know them, ya know?
Of course the minute we're all in the car we start discussing oral sex and periods and junk -- Ohhhhh girlssssssssss.
Awesome fun times though.
Hal Johnson quickly became my number one partner in party-time-crime. We held it down and just maintained in the backseat with our liquor, leaving the two ladies up front to worry about directions and make sure we get there safe. I love not worrying.
They did party a bit in the front, and I was glad.
Those fries from Harvey's were the GROSSEST things I've tasted in some while. They were so plain and gross and greasy and gross. The ones in my hand there had just fallen on the floor and now had dirt and hair in them. I did not put them in my mouth. Very much.
I told Hal Johnson that I would photoshop in a sunset behind her so that she'd look as rad as I did. But I didn't!
Okay that's all I got stamina for right now -- my stomach's been upset off and on for the past few days. You would think that I would stop drinking and see if that would help. But I won't! Don't want to go to work tonight, only want to lie around and watch TV-on-the-internet.
It's Prune's birthday today and so I'm also supposed to go and party with her tonight. Ugh I wish I felt better.
Pepto Bismal, work your magic, please?

Cactus is snoring on the couch, but it sounds like she is just ruminating on something, you know, sort of murmuring to herself. I wonder what she dreams of. Probably life without Adventure Cat (who pounces on her head given any opportunity).
The tape player in the Civic has started working again, inexplicably, and the brakes in there are way, way better then the ones on my bike. Mum's been playing a tape that she made of songs from mix-tapes that I made for her years ago. "BEST OF MEREDITH" "BEST OF MEREDITH 2" (then you know which side you're on).
I forgot about some of these songs, there's a couple that I don't even know who they're by. I still know all the words, though. Funny how that works.
I sing along so much more here.
There aren't very many people I'm feeling like calling. I don't know if it's just my mood or if I'm getting more and more detached. This week is going to feel too short, I'm steeling myself for that, I guess.
You know, I wasn't homesick until the plane landed. I hadn't been desperate to get back here (like I have been, frequently, in the past) But then it sort of hit me. The browns and greens, the intense flatness, the spaces between all the tiny houses and the wide, wide roads. I just love it here.
I slept for twelve hours last night, the room I'm in is a cave, no light gets in.
Needed that/wasted the day.
Driving home tonight, I felt strong and sure and solid behind the wheel, in control and lonely.
I wanted old habits. Wished I could show up at that window I used to. Wished there were houses I wanted to pass by, just to see if the lights were still on.
Not to point out the obvious, but everything has changed here. Everything is done, gotten over, moved on from.
I run off nostalgia, still.

129k miles. Two owners. All in all it’s a great car with a few minor mechanical and cosmetic issues:
The alternator needs to be replaced because it’s not charging the battery. My mechanic says it will cost around $250(parts and labor) to replace.
The body has a few small scratches and minor dings. No rust.
There is a deep crescent shaped scratch on the front windshield, left by the bottom edge of a formerly malfunctioning wiper blade. It’s barely noticeable except in direct sunlight and at night when illuminated by oncoming traffic.
There’s a small crack in the exhaust system that doesn’t seem to affect performance but it does give the car the idle of a much larger vehicle.
The front driver-side power window is not working but can be easily slid up and down with ones outstretched palm and a little finesse. All the other windows work perfectly (Except the rear drivers side window, which really doesn’t like to go down more than a quarter of the way.)
The Infiniti emblems in the center of each rim have pretty much faded away but they’d look nice spray painted black or covered with band stickers.
There’s something wrong with the fan belt. Again performance doesn’t seem to be affected much, though, when driven under 70mph, it does make a metallic shrieking noise like the Ringwraiths from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. If you haven’t seen those films then I suppose it sounds a lot like a pig being stabbed. This is nothing to worry about if you live in a bad neighborhood and don’t need to impress anyone.
The car has an amazing Bose CD/Tape player stereo system. The CD player works great. The tape deck on the other hand has an old mixtape lodged inside it, but who listens to tapes anymore really. Also the volume dial has become a bit finicky over the years. I don’t recommend playing with it as I have it set at a comfortable volume and even the slightest touch will turn the stereo up to it’s maximum volume. In case this happens, you should turn down both the bass and treble and balance/fade the stereo to the right rear speaker. In this state you should be able to listen to news or talk radio, if all the windows are down. Also some of the stereo’s important buttons are missing because of an incident with a very powerful coin operated vacuum. With a bit of practice though you’ll be able to work it just fine. And the retractable antenna no longer retracts but it keeps trying.
The under carriage guard is missing. More accurately, it was lost during a night of blackout drinking. Also part of the front passenger side wheel hub was lost that same night. I drove the car a distance of 5 miles without a front passenger tire and the sparks from my rim scrapping the road, lightly singed the paint on the front fender just above the wheel. Honestly this is just a theory as I was drinking that night as well. Rubbing compound and elbow grease should make it look a lot better.
On the bottom of the drivers side door there’s a small gash where I hit a broken cinder block a few years back. There’s a matching gash in roughly the same spot on the passenger side. That one just seemed to show up one day. Again, I recommend rubbing compound.
Despite the above cosmetic flaws the car looks great, inside and out, on misty nights, under a layer of dew. These nights are great for dates or business dinners where you’ll need to chauffeur clients. Generally speaking, most of the cars flaws will go unnoticed if your passenger has had more than 4-5 alcoholic beverages.

The interior is basically clean. On humid days though you might smell the slightest hint of goat cheese or stale milk, due in part, and this is just a guess, to a small amount of my girlfriend’s dried vomit hiding under the front passenger seat, where the coin-operated vacuum, mentioned above, could not reach.
The check engine light and abs brake service light are on but my mechanic assures me that it’s a fuse issue and not an engine or abs brake issue.
One of the best things about the car is that in its current condition you need not ever worry about it being stolen or messed with. In fact I once neglected to replace the front driver side window for four months, after it was shattered by two brawling teens. And in that time the car was not once burglarized or urinated in. I attribute this to the fact that my J30 projects a palpable menace. It’s the car of a violent crystal meth dealer or your new Korean girlfriend’s abusive ex-boyfriend.
If you’re interested in taking a look you can meet me on the 6th floor of the Arclight Hollywood’s parking structure where it failed to start after a showing of Gran Torino, staring Clint Eastwood. (A bit corny but actually not that bad)
The Kelley Blue book value for a 97 J30’s in good condition is $3,770, however I will entertain offers as low as $2200.
Thank You.
