you're still in the running

Sub Rosa, my final outfit (for now, don't you think I won't be going back over there to make my friend take more photos of me).
Also, my favourite outfit.

I insisted on the hat and my friend styled the jumper preeetty nice. If I owned it I might hem it even shorter (and by might, I mean definitely).

I just got real groceries for the first time in too long and I got so much healthy/great stuff. The cashier said "all the good stuff, hey?"
YEP.

I'm celebrating the fact that my landlord finally found the little fridge I've been wanting and bought it for me.
It is still a mini-fridge but it has two separate outside doors and now the freezer stays frozen and the fridge doesn't freeze everything. Amazing!

I bought big bags of frozen corn and frozen vegetables. Kind of a great snack just heat up some frozen vegetables and eat them with a bit of butter. Way better than buying samosas on the way home.

Oh yeah, I've been terrible about eating gluten lately like I just don't learn and I keep eating it and my stomach has been so ridiculously painful all the time because of it. I'm so dumb.  Today's the day I start eating right. I hope!

Yesterday I got sent home from work after only 2.5 hours because it was so ridiculously dead. We made $4.90 in tips. My record for the season so far. Kind of amazing.

I picked up a buttload of on-sale Easter candy at Shoppers and called up Niki to come meet me in the park for "working". By working I obviously meant candy-eating and vaguely talking about ideas and plans and script possibilities/sketch possibilities.

JL ended up coming to join us and I said something very rude about him being scrawny, which isn't even true because he's a pro-athlete for godssakes. He's spons'ed.
He was mad.
I made loud jokes and Niki laughed at everything that I wasn't sure was a joke.
Then some skateboarders came by and ate some candy. Then Cpt. Heh came by and ate some candy. We sat on that bench on Dundas for so long.
Because it's spring!

I came home and watched Gossip Girl (jumped the shark times a billion, can't justify why I even still watch it.) Then I got down to writing at around 1 a.m. and was up until 5 a.m. FUCKING GIVIN' ER.
I do not go to sleep when I have finally gotten myself into writing mode. I unplug from the internet and try to get as much done in one shot as I possibly possibly can. Because who knows when it'll happen again.

Though, I'm trying right to drink less/eat less/work more/save more/write more/party less/etc.

Which is hard work for me because I love party-all-the-time.
but possibly, as much as I hate to say it, party-all-the-time is holding me back.
I don't want to be held back! I want to be extraordinary!

not to start a trend about complaining about salads

but
I went to Milestone's (the new one on the 4th floor overlooking Dundas Square - pretty views) last night with Dollface and her uncle (yes, I am trying to wiener my way into that family, leave me alone) and I was discussing the menu with the server and I made the mistake of mentioning that I was gluten intolerant. Notice how I said gluten intolerant not celiac not allergic to gluten. I said I tried to avoid it.
So he talked me out of getting the veggie burger without the bun because the burger had bread in it. Okay fair enough so I ordered this salad that was spinach strawberry goats cheese and supposed to have walnuts on it. But he said I couldn't have the nuts because they had a gluten coating (?) and I said that's okay. He said "are you sure? everyone else I know who is gluten intolerant doesn't want it." I said, "no no it's fine".
ANYWAY.
He totally orders me the salad without the nuts. And I couldn't say anything about it because a) I didn't want to be rude and b) he was "trying to help" and c) I did specify that I couldn't eat gluten.
I did so want those nuts. I am not going to die if I eat those nuts. I am not going to die even if I eat the whole veggie burger plus bun.
I was annoyed because I didn't get to make my own decisions and he was sort of snotty about it like I didn't know what I wanted.
Did so! Did so know what I wanted!

Luckily it was a pretty good salad and it was cheap bellini night! BELLINIS!

Afterwards we went to a skateboard party at 751 with JL and co and creeped on the 19 sk8ers. Whoa spellcheck didn't underline sk8ers. WEIRD. but it did underline spellcheck.

Now I have to go to work because my life is too hard.

I woke up dreaming of a winter wonderland but instead it's only slushy and rainy and gross out there.

Where is my Christmas fantasy dreamland??

my blog is not like this blog

100 Massey is not the kind of blog I normally read.
Although, to be fair, I'd prefer it if I read a whole bunch of different sorts of things.
Anyhow, I like it.
Quite a bit, actually.

I think I like it because it's like a more realistic version of a party photo blog. It's dirtier and less good-looking and more appealing to me somehow.
Less hipster more truthful.

Unidealized but still romantic. Does that makes sense? Kind of.

It looks like what I'd like bits of the TV show I'm writing to look like.

I'm only stealing the photos that have me in them, that seems fair.

You should go look at it, though. I like the photos of beers and backyard parties and people giving the finger and dudes losing various items of clothing and everyone drinking whiskey. And the ones of drugs and shot glasses and random people making mean faces and the babes on skateboards. And I like the captions.

These guys, this group in general, have this sort of ruthless confidence that is really appealing.
And that I'm kind of jealous of.

Yesterday at Aunties and Uncles McGruff gave me some tomato tortilla soup to take home and I've eaten almost all of it already (3 bowls).
I love Aunties and Uncles. That's all.

come on ride me ride me ride me doublies

Surprisingly fun: Dance Cave.
Yeah, I know, filled with 20 year olds. But good dance party last night, gotta admit. Can't front.

Went to Lee's with Dollface and co. to meet up with some skater dreamboats for some skate party but it wasn't as fun as originally hoped and all the skaters ended up upstairs for some reason (less screaming bands, maybe? more young tail maybe?) so we hung there. Got drunked and danced. Pretty good music, some kind of funny bits. Mostly liked Blister in the Sun such a classic I don't even care I am so Angela Chase dancing over being over Jordan Catalano. Even though no one is ever really over Jordan Catalano. I mean he's Jordan Catalano for frig's sake.
Everyone was drunker than me (for once in my life) and belligerent in funny ways.
We saw a skunk on the way home! I wanted to keep it for a pet, but instead I was made to cross the street to walk as far away from it as possible.
What the hell is a skunk doing in downtown toronto.
Aw geez, I should've gotten a picture of the skunk. Could've made some sweet LOLskunks.

Had dinner at Victory with Sass today. Victory is the king of delicious wheat-involved foods but I got veggie chilli and cheese on fries because I'm very health conscious and a good eater.

Tonight I am tired. Despite my 4 hour nap all afternoon. I guess because I walked to work last night, worked, walked all the way from the dome up to Lee's, danced like a maniac (why are my arms so sore, seriously, was I doing chin-ups??), then walked home.
Everything is a bit achy.
But Dollface is covering a bar shift in my hood and so it's pretty much my duty to go and visit her. And there is Hip Hop Karaoke, guaranteed party time. Except my bike is a wienery baby and Gladstone is so far. How come no one wants to come and ride me doublies?

Funniest email of the week is from my friend in Saskatoon:

hey there buddy,
hows it hanging?
nice new picture(s).
well well you'd better get some new party shoes because i will be playing at the dakota tavern on halloween. Friday night party down. MAybe you'll get to make out with a zombie, a cowboy or somebody wrapped in aluminum foil? Doesnt that sound nice? Mark your calendar. talk to you soon buddy

wurd life,
Burke

The best is if you know this dude and you can read it in his slow drawl of a Prince Albert (Sask.) hick accent.
That does sound nice.

I can't keep up with google reader!

Happy birthday Linda Ronstadt!

Also, 5 months until Christmas, which in actuality means 4 months until holiday season. Holy excited!
I know you guys don't want to hear about it because you love sweating and heatstroke and sunburns but I gotta say, looking forward to sweater-weather. And mostly looking forwards to boots and most of all looking forward to holiday joy and cheer and glad tidings for one and all.

And falling leaves. And crispness.

Totally wienered out of going to the Y today because I am just that lazy. Oh yes, and also I needed to sleep in, clean the house, bathe (for once in my life already), and then walk to work (and buy one of those stupid-good healthy muffins from Urban Herbivore goddamn those things are delicious).
For some reason my bicycle is not cycling properly. It is being a silly little bitch and I inspected it but I cannot find the cause of its anger with me. I'll take it to Spenny's dad maybe and he can have a look-see.

Went to the gym yesterday though, so there. Whatever. Also walked all over the stupid city. Good for me!
Walking is for sure 3 times better activity than biking. But it takes such a stupid long time. Oh yeah, ipod! I remember why walking was fun. I'm going to get some more comedy albums! Then I wander around giggling like a lunatic.
Valid impression.

If I ever manage to escape from work tonight I'm going to be taking some babes to go scope skatebabes at a Wakestock oriented party at Lee's tonight. Skatebabes skatebabes skatebabes skatebabes. mmmmmhmmmmm. yes.

I love a good man who hasn't ever showered.

CRAP. ipod is frozen.
not a dangerous sad face yet, so we'll see.

Ow my bell feels like it's full of hammers. or maybe bars of soap. Nothing pleasant anyhow. Musthave been all those grilled cheeses and berry crisps last night. Thanks a lot, Dollface!
(so delicious)
