teen heartthrobs/douchebags

So. Mayoral candidate Adam Giambrone has dropped out of the running. Because he is a douchebag.
What is it about douchebags that makes them so interested in being politicians?
Or is it vice versa?

While I do believe, to some degree, that personal lives are personal and should stay personal, I believe that if the douchiness in their personal life is in direct evidence of how they're douches all the way around, then I think it's relevant.
I think lying to everyone you're sleeping with and concealing that fact that you have other partners is wrong and dangerous. And I think that lying to everyone and using severe manipulation to serve your best interests is terrible.
It's not the fact that he cheated on his partner, but the fact that at least one of the girls (I do mean girl, as she was much, much younger than him) was unaware that he even had a partner. I don't know why that extra-bothers me so much.

Okay I'm going to stop pretending that I know anything about anything.

Oh, but also, the awkwardness of some of the text messages that were released by one of his cohorts make me just feel embarrassed for him. If you're going to be a don juan with all the ladies, then do it properly!
"I still think of you when I need ... um ... stimulation"

In a way better story, Devon Sawa grew up and is still a bit dreamy!

I had to skip through an episode of NCIS: LA today just to watch him. He still has a voice I really, really like. It's sort of familiar and nice. I believe he's also married and stuff, so cool your jets.
But luckily most marriages aren't forever these days so I'll just go ahead and catch him on the next round!

Ugh, also, poor Chris O'Donnell, remember when he used to be good? Now he's on NCIS.  That sucks.

Ooookay work time then party time with people that I like only.
Wish me luck!
Good luck!

saucy

I hate that sick guilt feeling I get when I've done something dumb. I couldn't go back to sleep this morning because of it. I hate hate that. I could never be a murderer or a robber or even a bad liar because of that feeling.
Ugh! I hate it.
I'm kind of over it now, but still.
It's just that I acted like a 15 year old and stuck my nose in other peoples' business. And just convinced my friend that there's a reason he doesn't tell anyone anything.
Nice.

I should get off the sauce.
Oh no, my first thought upon writing that sentence was "there's no booze in the house, I should get to liquor store before it closes". t-t-t-t-t-trouble.
I'm being very dumb.
Work at cutting back. Okay okay will do.

The dishwasher guy at Aunties broke his wrist and I've known all three of the people filling in for him when I've been by.
nick was dishwashing!
This friend who I want to be my actual friend was one of them. And he sat with us for awhile, which was pretty nice. I find him very, very funny. He has the same sort of timing/characterization of British comedy or something.
Anyway.
I go to Aunties and Uncles far too often, I know. And yesterday I got into big trouble because I forgot to order my breakfast tacos (new favourite omg so good like I can't even tell you) without sausage until they'd already made them (I forgot! and I thought he'd know since I order them the same way twice a week.) but they made me new ones because they're nice like that but I did feel guilty. Yesss I did. Damn they were good though.

I'm really glad to have this friend back around, she's been so busy lately and then away and stuff and I just really like hanging out with her, she's very funny and tells funny stories. And is kind of gross and way too descriptive in a way that I enjoy.
sophia

On the Aunties menu it says Cup of Good Soup and even though it's always different, it really is always good. More than good usually.
cheers to soup!

That Deer had to leave to go to work and so that left us ladies to chatterton on our own. We stayed a long time and even had coffees after finishing our teas. Handy to have a neighbourhood hang where they don't mind if we do that.

I found some chocolate-flavoured confections in my pocket which I had forgotten that I'd gotten at my friend's birthday the other day. I was happy to see them though!

AWWW MAN CHRISTMAS IS COMING CHRISTMAS IS COMING.

I set up my teeny tiny Christmas tree and put my one wrapped gift beside it and when I woke up this morning it was bright out and in because of the white white snow and I had some mint chocolate in bed and remarked "This feels very Christmassy!"
Aw that feeling.

Speaking of that feeling, I'm hoping to get stuff Accomplished today. hmmmm.

between hope and dispair

Well. I did it. I finally finished A Fine Balance and it is a seriously lovely book and beautiful and everything that you'd expect. Except it is also just so horrendously depressing. The 'fine balance' part refers to finding a balance between hope and despair.. but I'm not sure the book actually find that balance. It did not make me feel at all hopeful, really.

Unfortunately I read three online gossip blogs every day. All this time I could be devoting to my creative pursuits or jerking off or something. But I do. I can't stop it.
But here are some thoughts on some hot celebrity topics:

#1 - Nicole Kidman did not actually birth her baby. I am 100% convinced of this. For sure she wore a bad prosthetic at points during the farce, but she did not actually carry that child. The weird part is that she insisted on pretending that she was. Why pretend? Because Katie Holmes had one? Because you want to out-crazy your ex-husband? Impossible.
She is used to shams because of being contractually married to Cruise and pretending that he was
a) straight
and
b) not insane
Nicole 2 weeks after "giving birth" to her new daughter

#2 - Katie Holmes. Something about Katie Holmes makes me want to weep. I bet she was the nicest kid ever. I didn't even like her on Dawson's Creek, and I don't think she's a particularly good actor, but there's something nice about her.
Well, there used to be. Now she looks drained and strange. Probably terrified that she signed her life away to play house with Cruise. But who could say no to that sort of offer? I can seriously say that if I were offered a million dollars and a chance to have kids and a career and everything that I want in exchange for being a front, I would take it.
I can't ever move to Hollywood because I would end up addicted to drugs and playing beard for a gay superstar. For certain.

#3 - Michelle Williams is lovely. She is beautiful and so great in Brokeback Mountain and in that movie I watched once that I still consider a favourite, Me Without You.
When I saw Williams on Oprah with Heath Ledger and their baby I was the most jealous green-eyed monster for about a week. What a life! I wanted to be her so, so ridiculously bad. At one point Ledger turned to his young family and said "I fall deeper in love with both my girls every day"
My heart is broken for her and this weekend must be the toughest. I wonder what she'll end up doing. I wonder if she has any desire for any more fame after all of this.

#4 - Heath Ledger is amazing as Joker. There is no denying that. I am not in the camp of "he just had to act crazy". Nope. He genuinely made me feel bad inside (probably due, in part, to being dead now) with that character. Unsettled and shook.
But I can't imagine having to play a character like that. Especially if you took the character as seriously as Ledger seemed to. I can't help but wonder if this character didn't play a part in his death. And no character is worth this.
Holy over-analyzation, I know.

#5 - Lindsay Lohan is in a lesbian relationship. And that's okay. Everyone calm the eff down. And why is Perez Hilton constantly constantly making fun of her and her girlfriend, Sam Ronson? Perez is gay, and yet he's the meanest about Ronson's looks/persona/style of any of the bloggers. Constantly attacking both of them.. when it doesn't really matter.
I can see how Ronson is attractive. She reminds me of a certain lesbian DJ we know who virtually every (straight) girl I know has a crush on. Because she's damn cool.

The stories that come out of Hollywood are nearly as depressing as A Fine Balance. And I don't think I'm particularly shallow to care about it, just interested in people. And interested in how people react to fame and money.
What a tough game.

I am totally going to go read some teen fiction right now and I'm hoping for happy endings.

oh soren

"For every woman there is a seducer; her happiness lies in her meeting him"
-Soren Kierkegaard

That was the fortune (?) in my odd sort of chocolate nut treat that a man at work gave me. Kind of funny that it'd be Kierkegaard.

"I have a bone to pick with you"
"You read my blog"

Story of my life.

I have the TV on. A lot. Still nothing.

Everyone in the world seems to have seen the gum one at least.
Everyone says "Hey! I saw your commercial!" but then they don't always follow it up with something. Then it gets awkward. I feel like Mitch Hedberg.

"A guy came up to me in the airport, saying, "Dude, I saw you on TV last night!" But he did not say whether or not he thought I was good. He just confirmed I was on television. So I turned away for a minute, and then I turned back toward him and said, "I saw you at the airport about a minute ago. And you were good!""

I went to a rad clothing swap yesterday with a whole lot of girls I didn't know. I like situations like that. I like new people. Except I'm so abrasive.
I got some good goods though! And ate some dainties. And had some post-swap gossip time.
I can't even explain how much I like gossip. And drama. And gossipy drama. So hard.

Party all the time. Party party party party all the time.

My old friend EE came to town and texted me last night. I think that she is ridiculously hysterical. Apparently her friend got her cards made up that said "Need a situation made awkward? Call E.E".
So true.
And excellent.

I'm working the Foo Fighters concert tonight. Then I hope to party party party more but I'm exhausted and irritable. Frustrated with myself and with other people.

And fed up with the mice. Stop squealing. For realz.
