I need to start keeping on top of things I've been up to

Last week hit up skateboarder night with some skateboarders at 751 (big surprise) with Dollface and JL, which should have been fun except one of the dudes with us couldn't get served because he had Quebec ID or some nonsense kind of annoying especially when those dudes go there about a billion times a week.
So we moved on. Not before I expressed my interest in getting a moustache...

But sometimes things turn out the way they should, or something..
ended up having kind of an awesome time at karaoke at The Dog's Bullocks (whaaaat the hell is that place, even?) with a bunch of blurry people

IMG_3870
Aww we both have powershots.. I want to see what his pictures looked like
IMG_3869

We kind of forgot that JL is an actual singer and his karaoke was really good. He did Tracks of my Tears, which a whole bunch of people didn't seem to know. Who doesn't know that song??
IMG_3873
JL's playing Sneaky Dee's this Thursday (today) night first time playing Sneaky Dee's (I think?) should be funtimez!

I did Rocking Around the Christmas Tree and no one punched me in the head! So that was nice. People get mad about early Christmas cheer sometimes. Something about karaoke makes me insanely nervous and completely unable to breathe. Weird, hey?
I think it's because I know I can't really do it... yet I'm compelled to. Kinda dumb.

Couldn't convince Dollface to do a number which is pretty too-bad because she's a very good singer. I know. I've heard her.

CRAZIEST KARAOKE PERFORMER I HAVE EVER SEEN.
We are laughing very, very hard near the end of this video. I believe my cackle-laugh even happens. That means funny.
Also good are the smug pseudo-goth couple who run the night behind her and their comments. They were really quite smug and both did a couple of songs. He stayed at his stand and used a way better mic and did epic songs and she did a Dido song. It's not mean to make fun of people if they are smug. Right?

Good god that lady was insane, though. I know it was on purpose a bit but... Wow.

Also, the other night when I was biking home I was going up Shaw (at about 3 a.m. I'd wager) and there were people horsing around on the angels in front of the church, throwing leaves and laughing and they called out to me did I have a camera?? and of course I did!!

Pretty ridiculous! In the funnest way!

IMG_3859

I have to email these to them, still.

IMG_3861

The blonde one came over and we chatted and he told me he was a stylist and that he loved my boots! I don't have a picture of them, but they were nice and I did fold the tops down and then they were even better. Thanks, Payless!

Not to point out the obvious (always, all the time), but I love adventures...

Don't hate Saskatchewan never meant no harm to anyone

Had brunch with Dollface on her birthday last week. We went to Aunties and Uncles. Everyone was surprised about that. Aunties seems to be the place of choice for birthday brunches -- I also went there with Sass for hers on Monday.

We looked very pretty.

Here DF is not-so-subtly talking about babes around the restaurant:

Mmmmhmmm.

While we were there I saw a dude with a moustache and he said hello to me. People with moustaches know how I want to talk to them. No, just kidding!!!! I'm joking you!
It turned out to be the brother of a dude I know from Deep Dark Woods. I'd met him before, I'm just not so good with all the remembering sometimes. Anyway, he reminded me that DDW are playing this week! Wednesday at the Horseshoe!

Here is them at Dakota (everyone's favourite, mmhmm)

The Deep Dark Woods @ The Dakota Tavern

It's the one date around here that they aren't playing with Elliott Brood. I wish they were! That'd be such a good bill. Elliott Brood are also awesome.

I like this song and this video aaaaand there's a tiny cameo in the bar scene by Raaaaymi win all around! Oh, and the bar is the Dakota!

Hey, I just looked at Elliott Brood's website and they're playing some U.S. dates. You should go if they're coming to you! So fun. Something about Mark Sasso's voice is really, really awesome. It sounds so scratchy and nice... almost like it hurts when he sings, but he has assured me that it doesn't. Which is good.

IMG_3853
Extra bonus! Pictures from brunch more than a week ago with Sass the time that it wasn't her birthday, not the time that it was. Happy Birthday! For your birthday I get you pictures of me in a tea pot with you behind it.

Just what you always wanted!

HALLOWE'EN HALLOWE'EN HALLOWE'EN

Holeeeeeee I have so many photos totally back-logged x 1 billion.

So many fun times lately. So in love with Toronto and all my peers.
Homesickness also. But that's pretty standard.

I go through phases of being into Hallowe'en or not caring much. It's easier to care when everyone else is into it and it's on a weekend. I do love dressing up!

I went as a dirty ranch hand. Mostly just an excuse to buy and then wear a moustache. Why do I love moustaches? Who knows! (But I do!)

I met up with Tigger and we stopped by a bar to see some DJ-BFFs of hers, and danced for a minute. Oh, yeah, I definitely blatantly stole some of these pictures from her site so you should visit it yourself because there's more!

Disney costumes shouldn't be too sexy... oh, well...

IMG_4009

Then we went to find JL at a party in loft that turned out to be where a couple of my co-workers live! Small city!

JL really, REALLY loved my moustache. He didn't find it creepy at all.

Went over to JL's house to party with him and his roommates --
IMG_4008
A druid and a zombie? I guess?
Pretty awesome.

IMG_4014

I like Tigger's purse a lot, it goes with her outfit
IMG_4021

I love this room-mate's princess hairdo so, so much!
IMG_4016

I don't know what's going on here:
IMG_4025
Wrong way to bounce, I guess?

IMG_4012

If anyone knows of any other good excuses for me to sport that guy, let me know. Please.
IMG_4023

Oh no! A sad little ranch hand!
IMG_4028

Yeah, a few minutes later I passed right out. I'm not sure I understand party-all-the-time anymore.
I also really wanted to take advantage of that extra hour by sleeping through it I guess?

I think next year I'm going to go as a voyageur in order to get to wear that moustache again. And so that I can constantly sing the voyageur songs I learned in elementary school (remember voyageur days??? oh, right, basically no one I went to elementary school with reads this blog).

now I have my own internet tv show

First installment of our talk show from Sass Zucket on Vimeo.

(possibly not the best time to have started filming the new talk show with Sass)

seriously if you know of a job tell me about it.

The sun is coming out for me to walk to work, that's nice. I got this shift last minute. Kind of excited, can't tell you how badly I need work right now.

PLEASE GIVE ME A JOB. DO YOU HAVE A JOB? GIVE IT TO ME!

Had a lovely brunch time with Dollface at Aunties (obviously) today holy breakfast tacos and the one cook is always trying to make them extra special for me since I get them without the chorizo (that's sausage!) on them so he made them with some sauteed red peppers and onions and stuff. Um, yep, pretty right on.
And the banana walnut pancakes for desert were even better than usual kind of crispy ah shit I wish I did not have a wheat intolerance.

Speaking of which, for some reason I decided to eat two donuts at Skydome on Sunday (because they were free and I was hungry) and some days I decide that my wheat intolerance is bullshit and made up.
Well, it really isn't. I was fully wheat-high all afternoon. Felt kinda drunk, you know like after you've had a couple of beers on a patio in the afternoon and you're not fun drunk anymore but just kind of out-of-it and not focusing properly? Yeah that was me.

Then two of my friends came and bought beer from me and one of them was growing new facial hair and it looked kind of pretty bad like patchy and pale and AH MAN am I rude/opinionated about people's facial hair (which is completely unfair considering how no one is ever allowed to have an opinion about my appearance/maintenance in any way.
Anyway I rudely yelled "What's wrong with your face!? Can you please shave your face??"
Uhhh, yuueah. That right there is a perfect example of why I cannot hold a relationship. (joking?)
The best was that my coworker overheard me yell that and she was like "Meredith!!" and then I was like "oh, I know him!" as if that made it okay... I mean, it did make it better, at least I wasn't yelling it at a perfect stranger... but still.

I'm a terrible person.

Next time I'll tell you my soul-patch story(s).

Hahaha oh, also, I haven't shaved my legs since August. I was trying to take a picture for you but it's blonde so it's hard to photograph.
I'm ridiculous.

Okay great now I'm going to be late for work thanks a lot blog town.
Next time I'll write you a pretty entry convincing you of what a lovely and care-taking person I am instead of showcasing my downfalls.

Maybe.

If you get bored whilst serving beer at the Monster Truck Jam you could:

a) Count moustaches
categorising is best for keeping your tallies

b) Count mullets
I don't know if I can count the guy who had shaved the sides of his head but had the rest in a long, multi-tiered pony-tail, but he gets counted for awesomeness alone.

c) Count neck tattoos
Seriously? On your neck?

d) Count tear-away pants
These should make a comeback.

e) Desperately want to be friends with the hipsters who've come in over-the-top white-trash outfits and wigs

f) Hit on a babe who when you I.D. him turns out to be only 19

g) Ask to be sent home every few minutes

h) Ask your partner really awkward questions about her sex life then refuse to divulge any information about your own
[If you even have a sex life. Lucky.]

.

I have to say that I was quite surprised about how many of the white trash stereotypes were proven true today. Although inquiring into a couple of moustaches I learned that they were only acquired today - special for the event.
I wonder if my appreciation of moustaches is going to be long-lasting.
I guess I did really love Magnum P.I. as a child. Though I could never really figure out if I wanted him for a father or for a husband.

Okay, one more list.

PEOPLE I CLAIMED WERE MY FATHER AS A CHILD:

- Fathers of people I've dated
Babes do not find this joke funny

- Spock
(it would explain the ears)

- Captain Kirk

- God
(God IS SO my daddy)

- Magnum P.I.

- The imaginary one I spoke to with frequency for a while there

- All the dads that came to pick up kids from my daycare
They all got called dad, so how was I to know that wasn't their name? Actually I went through a phase where all men were called dad. Once in the supermarket my mum left me for a second and came back to find me shaking my finger at a man doing something I must have disapproved of saying, "No, Dad. Stop. No, Dad!"

Yeah-huh.
