ah, Henry, let's set the date already!

Ever wonder if I would be a deliciously good-looking bride?

Everyone fussing around me!

oh yeah, I for sure made like I was engaged while we were at the wedding show on Sunday. I went with Mrs. and her future step-mother-in-law and a couple of our other friends and I thought, "hey, this would be more fun if it were about me"
HAHAA classic meredith.
I made up a lot of things about my fiancĂ©, Henry. By the end I was pretty sure he sounded nice enough and we'd be happy together. The best was when thinking about all this on the way over I said, "can he be British?" and Mrs. heard "can he be frigid?" so we decided he'd be both!
He's also very particular, that Henry!

Got into a conversation with a guy who runs a DJ service about how my DJ friends would insist on doing the music for my wedding. He was a good sport about it.
I just about registered my wedding registry with The Bay because they'd give me a travel mug! Overwhelming!

I tried to gather some ideas to bring back for Violet, who is actually engaged (congratulations!!!!), but mostly it was all really pretty gaudy stuff...

I did think she needed these $1000 cakes though. ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS?? ARE PEOPLE INSANE?
(sooo pretty!)

I like the flower one on the far left. Oh really, I like flowers? It's funny because in real life I never even notice flowers but flower-prints? Aw yeah, all up in that.

It was a terrible, terrible day to be allergic to gluten. So many cake samples. I would have eaten that up to bits... Ugh.

We watched the bridal fashion show and my favourite was the swimsuit wedding gear! (ughgughhh)
also, the grossest, most revealing line was by "Shkank"! How fitting! It was so, so unappealingly sexy. And all of the dresses featured removable skirts and overlays and stuff, so you could get more naked throughout your special day!!

Aaaanyway, I'm very excited for Violet's wedding because I will live vicariously through her. I hope she has an expensive fancy wedding! I'd never have an expensive wedding!
They're lawyers!

I was thinking about how I have to MC Mrs. and Arrow's wedding and how the only things I like to talk about are:
a) babes
b) dirty jokes
and
c) bad words
and how Mrs. family is mostly made up of Ukrainian priests.....
yikes!
I'll have to learn how to be ladylike and couth in the next couple months, I guess!

Also, I bought a computer off ebay yesterday and I AM VERY NERVOUS.
Also, I am doing my passport application. So I can travel around forever whenever I want. (just kidding I have to stay here to work more to pay off my computer and christmas and all of that.)

Aw man, I love costumes. Let's make a movie where I play a bride so I can wear a wedding dress! Dress up! Dress up!
(Mrs. can I borrow your wedding dress later to wear in a movie? hahaa costumes)

GOOD WIFE TIME. bye dudes

(oh also, I've decided to lose a bunch of weight, dye my hair really red again, put together my demo reel and become a super successful actor.
or I may just have a baby and move to the country and have tangles in my hair all day.
I'm going to figure out a way to do everything. Good thing I'm still a young guy. Or at least look like a young guy!)

I miss Yulie.

bonjour roncies

A string of babies all in snowsuits! I died.

wow.
I definitely only slept for about 4 hours last night. I cannot believe how soon 9:30 came. I woke up about 10 minutes before Mrs. came to pick me up. classic. I still managed to pack cookies and an apple. Thank god. I actually cannot handle having an empty stomach. Especially if I am also still a bit drunk.

I got the magic 8 ball app for my iphone and it's basically my favourite. It's the funnest game! I also feel like I can influence its answers with my tone of voice. Imagine if the makers made that possible?!
Magic 8 ball said I should go out and meet babes but not make out with anyone. Mission accomplished, magic 8 ball!

We went to the Harbord Room for their 3 year anniversary party. Lots of men! And bourbon manhattens! Man, everyone is on a bourbon kick, hey?
You know why? Delicious.

There were some major insane douchebag types there (I can't confirm that they were awful humans on all counts but my suspicions are very high) and some drunk babes. It was fun. I wasn't terribly rude to everyone, so.. it was a win, I suppose.

Then we hit up Dakota but we missed Peter Elkas's whole set. I did run into some people I love to make fun of, though.
Then we wandered over to my favourite place to drink after-hours and wienered our way into staying for more drinks...
Smooth moves. Ai.

I move smoothly in stupid directions.

Yeah so then this morning Mrs. and I went to help our friend move for a bit on Roncesvalles (I'm the WORST person to ask to help move stuff, jfyi. I mean, I'll show up.. but.. no, I actually did an alright job. sort of. hahahaa).

Then we went to Easy for brunch

Easy has so many gluten-free sub-in options! And vegetarian and vegan options! Nice work, gotta say. I had a herb omelet which was really quite lovely.

and hit up my favourite shop in the city, Coriander Girl.

My old pal from college who I will always loves owns this little shop and it's easily one of the most tasteful places I've been in. I don't go visit enough!
For shame.
She gave us little gifts and things and I got some lover's tea and a tiny rosemary plant! Amazing.
Mrs. got a posy and some wildflower honey. Good goddamn.

Parkdale vacation! I love Parkdale. I mean, I lovelove my neighbourhood now but I could def see myself in Parkdale at some point in the future. Especially when Mrs. and I open our shop there.
Right by coriander and we'll be bessst buds.

then on the drive home we talked about weddings.
Everyone is getting married and shit. Or breaking up.

I'm just busy being single for life so if you want a wingman, I'm pretty solid gold at it. Just saying. Coriander was saying that I should start a business being a wingman.
So true, I mean, I'm pretty into being single (off and on. on lately, in a nice way.) and so I feel like maybe I could convince people that people single is fun. Hmm. no, probably not. People are against singledom.
MARRIAGE IS THE ANSWER TO ALL YOUR HAPPINESS PROBLEMS.

Someday I'd like to be part of a couple so I could get invited to more dinner parties. Just kidding there's no food I can eat, really.
UGH.

I want to start a veg dinner party club. Who's in?

haaaanyway. Now I have to go to work and I want to sleep for 100 years instead. After work, I suppose. I'm only partly delirious!

6.17.2009

aw, jeez it's really coming down out there

Rain? Rain? Really? Really you want to rain all the way through North By Northeast?
This happens every year, doesn't it?

Gotta pick up my wristband on my way to work. Then work. Then get this party started. Yeah? Yeah.

Looks like The Drake is going to be the place to be tonight. If you are Sass or I, at least.
The after-party for the NXNE launch is there, with a pretty loaded line-up. DJs upstairs and in the basement peeps like The D'Ubervilles, Lioness, and Woodhands. Uh huh.
I hope I can make it over before it lines up!

How was my wedding reception, you ask?
Quite swell.
Pretty party all the time.
The bands were awesome and party and I do wish more people had dressed up, but what can you do? Some cute costumes but nowhere near enough terrible bridesmaids dresses.

IMG_1727

Oh, yeah, I ended up making my reception dress yesterday out of a sweatshirt. 'Cause that's how I roll? And I wore this weird/pretty crochet urban outfitters poncho(?) thing overtop. I felt pretty.

IMG_1725

I made a pretty sweet wedding song playlist that I had fun dancing to. It included such hitmakers as Boyz 11 Men, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Whitney Houston, and Enigma. We danced our first dance to I Believe I Can Fly and it was magical.
We cut the cake and I tossed the bouquet.

IMG_1723

We were treated to watching a video of our wedding.
I laughed until I cried. The video didn't end up getting edited, and the sound was shitty so music got played instead. It was still amazing. I want to show it to you sometime.

Yeah funtimez. Also, the new issue of the GangLion comic looks pretty amazing. Seriously impressive.

Holy lick I've spent the whole afternoon editing photos and I'm nowhere near done. Tonnes of neat pictures have been backpiling. Hopefully the next few days of having little to do besides party will help me make a dent in it.

6.15.2009

r & r & r & r

Yeah I'm not going out tonight. Yeah I'm so tuckered out and over-socialized.
Can't stop yawning.

Dakota last night then Lakeview with Dollface, kind of fun. Mmm veggie burger with sauteed mushrooms mmmm yesss.
But then the cat woke me up at 8:30 and then they started doing construction on the roof over my head at 10 so... you know... didn't get all my beauty sleep.

Did my friend's photos today, pretty fun. Like shooting people. I have a tendency to laugh a lot while I do it but that's because I'm enjoying it I guess or something.

Aaaanyway, so I did leave my house for awhile and I have been getting stuff done all evening and I think I deserve a little rest and relaxing. Maybe put on a pot of tea maybe have a few little perogies or something. Could be anything. I'm wild and crazy!

I want to watch a movie on the internet. Which movie should I watch? I'd like a comedy. A romantic comedy that is also good. Do those exist?

NXNE picks coming up very soon. Ahhh man, so many good shows I'd love to see but also so little time kind of.
One pick will definitely be The Mark Inside (long time faves best sorts of dudes), and here is an article by the lead Mark Insider in the National Post http://www.nationalpost.com/arts/story.html?id=1697332.
Neat-o.

P.S. - Don't forget to come out to our wedding reception tomorrow!

IMG_7031
(ha, my husband's beard is the same colour as my hairs kind of)

ding dong the bells are going to chime!

holy bad blogger!

Okay so I have to go do more stuff and I definitely worked/partied all weekend so I don't have a minute for this right now, but I have yet to announce that I will be having a wedding reception at The Boat tomorrow night!!
GangLion Comics presents my wedding reception!

IMG_6984

It's going to be an awesome party I think and it may well sell out so you should come early also come early for free cake also come early so that you get to see everything and do everything.
Also, dress for a wedding and it's only $5 cover. Uh huh.

IMG_6983

Oh, right, there's also going to be stupid-good bands playing. Including:
The Magic
Henri Faberge
Aaaand surprise guests and stuff.

CELEBRITY COUPLES I AM JEALOUS OF

Amy Poehler and Will Arnett (and their little baby, Archie!)

Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes (love Kate Winslet. Watched her biographer the other day and loved her even more. Love Hideous Kinky, you should watch it. It is not anything like the title implies.)

Michelle Williams and Spike Jonze (was jealous of her relationship with Heath as well, also she is so pretty and amazing and I love her. JFYI. Want to see Wild Things!)

Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton (if I got reeeal skinny and weirder maybe I would look like her at least)

Tina Fey and Jeff Richmond (composer on SNL) (jealous of Tina Fey on so many levels)

Maya Rudolph and Paul Thomas Anderson (I didn't even know about this one until recently! And I love her last name..)

I think a lot about movies and theatre and I never go to see them. I should start doing that more often.

Oh, I did go to see Adventureland with Carlos in Saskatoon. It was kind of weird. Charming and nice and stuff, but also awkward (not purposefully awkward, more like I could see the script or something while I was watching it).
It had an obscene amount of drinking and driving in it. And a bit where there was a consequence to that... but not enough.
I'm pretty anti-drinking and driving. In case you were wondering.

Okay I need to get my life in gear and stop dicking around (literally).

You know what's annoying?
When people ask how your career is going.
I bet people don't do this to people who aren't in the arts. It's fucking obnoxious.
I've taken to sticking my tongue out, giving thumbs down, and saying "my career is in the shitter!"
This works because it dissuades (omg hard to spell) people from asking much further.
But it's not true. My career is coming along -- slowly.
And I wonder if I by saying this all the time I am convincing myself (and the universal energies and fates [punch me in the head/give me a copy of The Secret]) that my career is pointless and done...

HMMMMM.

Oh yeah, p.s. - I'm doing a short play on May 23rd as part of the Over-the-Top Festival.

And I'm getting into a positive outlook. STARTING NOW.

4.29.2009

flatlands, rivers, spaces between houses

I'M GOING TO SASKATOON ON MONDAY!

HOME HOME HOME HOME HOME HOME HOME HOME HOME HOME TIMEZ

And guess what?
It's going to be warmer than average temperatures in the 14 day trend.
Fingers crossed!

I'm planning to hunt crocuses on prairie hills, who's with me?
Country picnic party??

Also excited for my favourite valentine, Killary, to tie the knot. I'm going to hump up on her before that happens though. For sure.
And then I'm going to threaten her fiancee. Just for fun!

I'm fully copying and pasting the list of things I want to do in Saskatoon from when I was planning before Christmas.
Although I'm deleting a couple of things and adding a couple of things.

I'M GETTING VERY EXCITED TO SEE YOU AND PLEASE BEAR IN MIND THAT I NEED A BIG HUG AND
A CUDDLE BUT I AM BAD AT AFFECTION

okay,

Saskatoon Plans:

- Drive. Is there even a working car for this to happen? Shit I love driving and I only get to do it in Saskatoon. I drive stick. I run out of gas a lot.

- Visit with those kids I like (oh yeah, I guess I owe them birthday gifts. Shit.) I'm betting they are beyond cute still. If they're not they're getting punched.

- Scold the baby for getting too big while I wasn't there to enjoy it. I hear she can make almost-sentences now so she will really be able to appreciate the scolding

- Make funny jokes and dominate the conversation with my family (quelle surprise)

- Bother my mother while she's trying to write/paint/etc

- Climb onto the end of my mother's bed while she's reading in bed about to go to sleep and then refuse to leave and stay up late talking to her about why things are hard and why they are the best ever

- Make Mum read my Tarot cards

- Go to Amigos (duh) Already RSVP'd "attending"

- Attend a dinner party (okay -- who's throwing one? I want to go to one. Whitmore, Reberk, Carlos, Clubhouse, etc, I'm looking at you. Aw man I miss you.

- Dance party (possibly also karaoke? I'm easy. Well, less easy since this past Babe-Break but still a sure thing)

- Re-friend people I miss (re-friend people that I wish I still knew?)

- Have breakfast at Park Cafe

- Get drunk and make my brother come pick me up (and then rant at him about really lame stuff and lean my tired face against the window)

- Call the Toad (maybe see him, maybe not, depends on how he's doing, I would bet)

- Shop in the Midtown Plaza (why do I like this mall so much? I hate malls!)

- Snuggle some kittens (rerun, you little suck, I'm looking at you. Adventure Cat, get ready to get nabbed and kissed on the face)

- Grilled Cheese Platters with Constantine and SteveDave (Const texted [he got a cellphone!? timez are changing!!] to say he's making the reservations!)

- Valentines date with Hillary (before she's lost to me forever - ie: extra-marital affairs only)

- Hit on home-babes (ain't nothing like a home-babe)

You know how awesome it is when the water won't turn on?
Well, it's even awesome-er when the water won't turn off!

Waiting on the landlord to see what's up. But I gotta, say it's always fun when they make it seem like
a) it's your fault
and
b) they don't really feel like having to deal with it

Yayayay party!

I WANT TO GET MARRIED

I'm not sure that that was what I was supposed to get out of Rachel Getting Married.

Everyone from high-school that I was kind of friends with are all getting married.. in places like Hawaii and stuff. That seems weird to me. Every aspect of it.

And yet, I'm totally jealous. Why is that?
I'm not even that into the idea of marriage or of being married or being someone's "wife"... although, I would like a husband.

Turns out I have kind of a bizarre idea of what my future husband is like. Maybe I will draw a picture/chart about him for you later. Weirdly enough, he is not really anything like JTT. Hmm.
Also, strangely, he is not much like anyone I've dated. Extra hmm.
Imaginary-husband and Imaginary-bio-dad are kind of similar types though. Makes sense.
Haha!

Also, all those people from high-school all having children! How come they get to have kids right now and I do not?
Look at them being all responsible and reliable and having offspring just to live vicariously through in order to not have to actually do anything with their own lives.
Um...... just kidding?

There are many reasons why Cpt. Heh is one of my favourite people but he reinforced it the other day by talking about how he "has started a store-up of love" for his future children.
I feel the same way!

Good thing I didn't have kids when I was younger. They would've been named some pretty stupid things. Not cool-stupid. Bad-stupid.

Babe-break is going well, thank-you for asking.
In some regards... I drank a bit last night and that's trouble because it makes me much more certain that I could fall in love with anyone. And should.

Went out to the Silver Dollar with the Mrs. and a whole bunch of the Ryerson crew. A few years ago I did a student film for a dude at Ryerson and through that met some of my most favourite friends. I know so many people through that one little film, and it has lead me to do other things with those kids as well, including A Small Thing. That's how I know the Mrs. and pretty everyone, really.

The odd thing about this group, is how I have kind of made the babe-rounds in it. And last night I was distracted by how they all must think I'm the most fickle slut there is.
And they're probably part right.

Aw man, I just like people. I like people so much and when that person is a girl that I like I try real hard to befriend her and make her party with me and call her on the phone and try and make plans all the time.
And when that person is a dude, I try to make out with him.
Also, in Saskatoon, it's a bit more acceptable to make your rounds through a group, because, well, there is only one group.
I don't feel terrible, I just feel slightly shitty.

We went for Chinese food after the bar, which is so summer 2k6 (?) for us. And so fun. I wish I hung with that crew all together like that more often.
Got home at 4:30 in the a.m. and felt oddly accomplished.

All these people I don't expect to read my blog now read my blog and then they know all this stuff like that I'm on a babe-break and therefore should not be facilitated to go near to babes.
I need to be enabled!
Just kidding! Babe-break is fun!

I AM CRAVING SOME SUGAR AND SOME CHOCOLATE LIKE YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE.
Why do I have to be counting calories? Calories suck so bad.
I might go buy a treat. I'm just warning you right now.
