my mum joined facebook, I wonder if she regrets it yet!

I suppose I could ask for permission on this but....
I'm glad my mother is on facebook now!

haaahaa favourite mother I guess

yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah vote/ronnies/comedy/twitter/etc

I voted!
Obviously.
I've been on about the election quite a bit over Facebook and interested in what other people are saying, much more so than in the past.
But then I'm also pretty lazy. I fully considered just not voting and then telling people I did. Luckily I am a bad liar. It's easy to feel like your vote actually doesn't matter. What is one vote?
But it does matter. And if more people took it actually, truly, seriously then maybe we wouldn't have to deal with Harper in this way.

the winds and rains blew some boats into the harbour I guess?
It's funny how you get used to something and then all of sudden, boats!

Went to comedy last night! Let's Get Hot at the Rivoli.
And Flash Gordon came and then Ruckus came and we laughed. And ate pad thai.

It was the second last Let's Get Hot which is hosted by two of my favourites (who I also am managing to turn into IRL friends), Chris Locke and Aaron Eves.
Flash Gordon was super incensed about this show coming to an end. I have to say, I'm on her team. It'll be a bit annoying since it's our favourite. But I expect that these people will keep being funny in different places and we'll keep following them around like lost ducklings.

Twitter is kind of the best for comedians, most of the people who I'm actually into following are comedians or at least pretty funny. the on-going jokes are the best, and I love when people get in on them and keep them going forever.

fuck, I love jokes. ya know??

My favourite comedian that I follow on twitter who I would never have heard of if not for Twitter I bet, is Megan Amram. Mrs and I were reading them outloud the other night and falling onto the ground. My top favourites?

"One man's trash is another man's my dad."

"Pretty upset my mood ring turned blue - I'm not ready to be a parent!!"

"You can tell a lot about a person by reading my boyfriend's email"

"Before I flush, I softly whisper "I miss us.""

honestly I'm having a hard time choosing, I think these are the best. Too bad, here are some more:

"I'm one of those girls who can eat whatever she wants and not get married!!"

"In my experience, less than 40% of people wearing "Duke" sweatshirts are actual dukes."

"My fantasy basketball team = five dragons and a chupacabra"

"I only drink on days that end in sobbing"

"I may not party a ton, but get a couple of Mike's Hard in me and I can be QUITE the cryer ;)"

"You don't KNOW ME, password security question, my loose mother was never a MAIDEN"

"I'm not one of those high maintenance girls who has to brush her hair AND her teeth."

(I've said this one at least 40 times in the past few days, and generally meant it...)

At the stadiums I work at I work with people who are just regular. Like the kind of people who have 9-5 jobs and then work a second job (stadium) because they literally like money more than they like time to themselves.
these are the type of people who mysteriously just seem to know how to have boyfriends, get engaged, get married, be married, go to clubs, not care about voting, shower daily, work jobs, blow-dry their hairs, BBM, have kids, own cars, go to all-inclusive resorts...
So bizarre!

I like working with them because I think otherwise I'd be a bit sheltered with how all my friends are pretty like-minded and on my team about most things.
Not that I'm not jealous of certain things about their lives. Like I wish I knew how to dress myself or not be covered in cat hair all the time.

But man, it's weird that they think that I'm the strange one!
Occasionally I'll admit to something like not having showered that day, or not having brushed my hair in days, or having 10 crushes who all play in the same band, and they get so weirded out by this.

Or that I'm never in a serious relationship?  Most of my co-workers do not know how to get on board this idea. And they seem mystified that I seem alright with this.
Occasionally I get offers to be set up with someone's friend but man, unless he can make music, art, jokes, or super intelligent conversation (or at least has a huuuuuuge dick [just kidding, gross, put that away, sorry mum]), I really have no interest.
Also... I'm pretty sure I don't really need setting up. Though I am always fascinated by the idea of it!

I'm not totally a fan of the sad looks I get about it, I'll tell ya that for free.

WHAT IS THE POINT IN BEING SAD ABOUT BEING SINGLE?

It is my job to be happy whatever I'm doing. What if I eventually end up with someone who I want to be with forever and I've not had all the fun beforehand?
What if I get sad and start dating someone just because it's what I think I should do and then they ruin my self-esteem and treat me like shit and so I can never leave them?
What if I get sad and start dating someone and treat them like shit because I don't really like them that much but I feel like I should be with someone and so I stick around and pick at them to make me feel better about myself?

Not interested in doing that!

Interested in hanging out and having fun and making jokes about baaaabes all day forever and maybe sometime I'll date someone and until then keep your damn sadfaces to yourselves, co-workers!

Haaa, I was describing one of my crushes to a co-worker the other day and she was like "hmmm... he sounds like a hipster"
<3

Anyway, mmoving along....

this is my face and below my face is one of the 3 (!!!) scarves that Dollface brought back for me from Asia.

I guess I didn't post these photos from Ronnies last week?

I should have finished out the Chees to Cheesbrough onto my head in that one, hey?

Firehorse's favourite pink tuque is like a beacon, I can find him anywhere!

One time forever ago a friend of mine and I went home with a couple of dudes from Ronnie's. They had a giant apartment that was like an office building and most of the coffee table was used for an ashtray.
She ended up sleeping on the one guy's futon in his room instead of making out with him.
I refused to put out and the dude I was making out with was a bit irritated, I stayed over still. That's what I'm like.
We went and got coffee the next morning as he was leaving for work and he slapped my butt.
I'm not the kind of person who gets their butt slapped.
oh, except as a joke. All the time as a joke.

I really don't remember much about that dude at all, now that I think about it.

point being, I'm not socially awkward, and neither is anyone I know.

haaaaa Dollface has taken to giving herself high-fives all the time and I find this hilarious.

Norman is avoiding us these days and not partying. He is turning his ship around and becoming productive again. Congrats, but also.... a bit sad.
haaaaha awwww.

Firehorse is a happy lumberjack!

In case you were unclear of where we were and I didn't mention it enough.

OKAY BYE NOW.

where's bee?

flickr app is being a piece of turd right now which is not right on, ya know?

hey look a confused little lamb!

If you haven't looked at Vintage Voter yet, I really recommend it.
you can see pictures of Harper when he was a little less creepy!

Ughhhh election. Everyone should vote.
I was managing to turn a pretty blind eye to all the SHIT that Harper has been doing and wants to do but this election has gotten it all up in my grill and maaaaaaaan this is not cool.
pretty much horrifying.

GAH.

ShitHarperDid.com is a bit over-simplified and easy, I get that, but I think it's worth a visit, especially if you are like me and try to know as little as possible about shit because you are a terrible and lazy person.

In better news, last night at 1:30 we went by Sneaky Dee's for a Springsteen VS. Petty dance party and I kind of wish we'd gone earlier.
I was super tired and about to go home but I got talked into it. And MAN, you know what the best thing about Springsteen VS. Petty is?
You don't have to choose.

Also, what the fuck Patio Lanterns? Still not a cool jam.

Anyway, I totally danced and scoped babes. Are these regular types of nights? because I'd go again.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOLLFACE!!

that's all I got for now.

no wait, also my favourite work supervisor send me a link to this article: http://thehairpin.com/2010/10/all-dudes-learned-how-to-dress-and-it-sucks/! so funny!

Aaaaaand, for a moment I'll pretend I'm at all politically-minded. I know that pretty much everyone has seen this by now but it really is preeeetty amazing, I'll tell ya that for free.

From this article in Torontoist. Not united at all.

Okworktime then partytime gotta do it up for Dollface but hopefully it'll be a bit calmer than last night (at least for me)!

teen heartthrobs/douchebags

So. Mayoral candidate Adam Giambrone has dropped out of the running. Because he is a douchebag.
What is it about douchebags that makes them so interested in being politicians?
Or is it vice versa?

While I do believe, to some degree, that personal lives are personal and should stay personal, I believe that if the douchiness in their personal life is in direct evidence of how they're douches all the way around, then I think it's relevant.
I think lying to everyone you're sleeping with and concealing that fact that you have other partners is wrong and dangerous. And I think that lying to everyone and using severe manipulation to serve your best interests is terrible.
It's not the fact that he cheated on his partner, but the fact that at least one of the girls (I do mean girl, as she was much, much younger than him) was unaware that he even had a partner. I don't know why that extra-bothers me so much.

Okay I'm going to stop pretending that I know anything about anything.

Oh, but also, the awkwardness of some of the text messages that were released by one of his cohorts make me just feel embarrassed for him. If you're going to be a don juan with all the ladies, then do it properly!
"I still think of you when I need ... um ... stimulation"

In a way better story, Devon Sawa grew up and is still a bit dreamy!

I had to skip through an episode of NCIS: LA today just to watch him. He still has a voice I really, really like. It's sort of familiar and nice. I believe he's also married and stuff, so cool your jets.
But luckily most marriages aren't forever these days so I'll just go ahead and catch him on the next round!

Ugh, also, poor Chris O'Donnell, remember when he used to be good? Now he's on NCIS.  That sucks.

Ooookay work time then party time with people that I like only.
Wish me luck!
Good luck!

Ostrich

Waitress: What kind of eggs would you like?
Friend: Uh.. chicken?

.

I get all my news from Facebook!!!

"In the most recent economic and fiscal update, we learned Harper's plan for the economy:
-Little in the way of economic stimulus, or support for forestry or manufacturing sectors
-Ban strikes for public unions until 2011; cancel all collective agreements
-Sell $2 billion in Canada's assets for cash to create the illusion of a balanced budget
-A plan to bankrupt opposition parties by cancelling the $1.95/vote public campaign financing. But, keep the public subsidy for political donations (from which the Conservatives get most of their cash)."

I like how very little I manage to pay attention to politics and the goings on around me. Head in the sand.

I support the coalition. I realize that the markets are unstable and we're in a recession and stuff like that but holy hell I do not like Stephen Harper or any of his peeps. I do not like their faces and their scare tactics and their rudeness and self-righteousness (not that any politician is not self-righteous).
And I'm tired of Conservatives being up on their high horses like FINALLY WE HAVE POWER NOW WHAT WE THINK MUST BE RIGHT
Nope, still not right.

I agree that the only way to lead this country is from the centre. And the Conservatives seem to have 100% no interest in anyone elses opinions or needs. And you have a stupid MINORITY government.
UGH.

The truth might be that I mostly support the coalition because it would be pretty interesting....

Also, just from a personal stand-point; I like my union. Quite a lot. I can't even explain how much more organized/responsible/accountable the ACC has to be than the skydome on account of the union being there for us.

Also from a personal stand-point; I need that arts funding. Please give it to me.

Okay, I know I don't get to have an opinion on this really since I have my head buried deeply, so I'm going to stop talking about it!

[Note: When I was little my family always said "Don't get dropped on your head, you'll become a Conservative", so growing up I fully equated the term Conservative to the term Mentally Challenged. Just sayin'.]

only part fluff

Went to Sass's birthday dinner on Sunday.
Luckily I managed to not get any good pictures of her. Classic.

We went to an Asian restaurant on account of she is Asian and therefore can only eat rice. And duck. And duck-rice.
house of gourmet food
corn and tofu and something soup
Took Deer along - needed some veg support. Haha, kind of true though.
furrow brow
He has shaved his face to get ready for MOVEMBER. I'm expecting a sweet 'stash. I better not be disappointed.
girls dine

I dressed like Christmas. So what else is new.

almost all gone
I don't know why but House of Gourmet seems to specialize in serving mushrooms that are shaped exactly like noses. I guess you've got to be good at something.
nose mushroom
I am good at putting inappropriate things onto my face.
mushroom nose

I am also good at making bad jokes, especially lately.
Hanging out with my one friend this weekend, we agreed that we found each other terribly funny but that maybe most people wouldn't. I suggested we make sketches together and she said "but if we're both in the sketch - who is going to be laughing?"

I watched both Obama and McCain's speeches last night. I was pretty impressed with McCain, he seemed kind and decent. I liked that he agreed everyone needs to work together. Same with Obama. I felt like when Obama said that he will be the president of his opponents too, he was saying he wanted to work for them as well - support their interests and try to understand and work with them.
You know why I like Barak? Michelle Obama, that's why. For some reason I've caught way more interviews with her than I have with Barak and she always seems like someone I would want to friends with. And that family just seems so nice. But also strong.

I am less excited than I was yesterday. Especially since hearing that certain propositions limiting or eliminating gay marriage rights may have passed.
yuck.
Honestly, who's business it is who marries who!?
Do I think that Katie Holmes should've married Tom Cruise? Good God, no. But it's not my decision to make.
No one's marriage but mine own (or possibly my best friends') should be affected by my opinions.

I think the Canadian election would've gone differently if it'd been held after the U.S. one. Probably Harper knew that.
Hmmmmmmmm.

As Nunc Scio asks today,
Where is OUR Obama?

BARACK OBAMA!

I'm so HAPPY BARRY I'M SO HAPPY YOU WON!!!!!!

(guys. I'm so over dramatic. I totally cried. And I totally feel hopeful. Oh, I'm pleased!)
I'm so HAPPY BARRY I'M SO HAPPY YOU WON!!!!!!

(guys. I'm so over dramatic. I totally cried. And I totally feel hopeful.)

nerves

Is it strange that I'm actually feeling kind of weird and scared about the election tonight? Well, it's weird for me at least.
I would just be so, so sad about the state of the world if Obama loses. I mean, I'm already sad about this world, but srsly, Sarah Palin?

Articles like this one: Can Obama win popular vote but lose election? aren't making me feel any better.

I wish I were in the states and voting, mostly just because I'd like to get all of the free things companies are offering for having voted. I could use a Starbucks and some donuts and some ice cream, but most of all, I would be taking advantage of Babeland's free sex toys for voting.
OBVIOUSLY.
SILVER BULLET OF DEMOCRACY!!!

politics!

This comes to you via Sass.
It deserves this re-post.
