let's slam whiskey, jump into lakes, get married 8 times

It's crazy how Elizabeth Taylor got married 8 times...
Thinking about that has got me reconsidering my stance on being single. Way less panic-inducing if you think of each relationship as a brief and finite thing with wayyyy more huge fantastic loves waiting on the other side, right?
I just need rich husbands to finance our marriages and divorces.
Hahahaahahaaa I like the idea that I've just been choosing never to fall in love. (?)
Ohh lord, my faulty heart.

I've been watching so much Boardwalk Empire now all I want is lacy clothes and lingerie and soft curls and whiskey. Lots of whiskey.

If someone wants to cast me in a period piece, GO AHEAD, I am ready.

I think I'd look real good in petticoats.

Speaking of Boardwalk Empire, I spotted a babe in the episode I was watching last night.
I have an insanely good eye for babes (obviously) and this one wasn't in that much of it but I google-searched him and apparently he is also a musician?
daaaaaaamn. beardy plaid yiii.
And probably Alicia Witt's boyfriend? Remember Alicia Witt? What a good last name. Also, his name is Josiah Early. I like the idea of them getting married and hyphenating!
SIGH.     Honestly?     Honestly.   Give me this lifestyle.
I want to hang out with these dudes. They look like really fun buds. We could slam whiskey together and jump into lakes.
Ohhh the internet. How creepy I can be on here.
I kind of don't want to listen to his music because I don't believe that he could also be talented, but if he isn't talented I don't want to know. But if you want to know, it's here myspace.com/josiahearly.

Okay real life time again:

Victory Cafe with the Bender Gang last night. Except we weren't being terrible! Well, most of us. Both Carla Ghee and Norman left quiet early on. Carla's even taking a break from drinking for awhile. Congrats, Carla Ghee!
Firehorse and I, along with some other non-regulars in my life held it down though.

We spent quite a long time telling jokes. Joke after joke after joke. I was accused (by a dude I just met) of not finding anything funny.
That is the opposite of my life.
But, I will concede that I do not find most jokes funny. Why? Because they are too contrived. Too forced. And usually rather boring. Anyone else on my team on this one?
Part of my enthusiasm for humour is the surprise and cleverness of it and its deliverer.

Awwww Firehorse.

This lady, called Sainte, is exceptionally pretty and was being a solid fun time last night.

We were drinking.

And leaning over a lot, apparently.

I felt like I did a good job on being good-looking last night. I've been under-the-weather on the good-looking front lately.
DON'T ARGUE. I know what I know.

I have felt uninspired about my hair and wardrobe and face and size, etc, etc.
but I was really feeling the lace shirt I wore last night that I got at the swap this week. And I didn't feel like washing my stupid knotted hair so it had to go up and somehow my bun ended up looking way better than usual, I don't know why? Maybe because I touched up my hair colour? Who knows! Anyyyyyway. Sorry.
I felt good.

Super-red face from walking home in the windy cold. It's cool to take lots of pictures of yourself forever when you get home a bit drunk, right? Cool.

I'm feeling ill today. I'm refusing to get out of bed. That's my right. I wish I had energy for dancing tonight but if I do anything it'll be go to Hoops to watch hockey. If they're playing the game there.
Maybe my Hoops crush will be there and I'll look good. hahahaaaa oh god the challenges of my life, hey?

as little as physicallly possible

Oh, lordy, what a mood I was in today. Or at times, a lack of mood. I wasn't super sad or anything, just... you know.

I walked the dog and I was too tired and not feeling well so then I just hung out at Dollface's all day watching cable TV. I seriously kept meaning to get up and go home but it just didn't happen. I found some microwave popcorn and some green tea and a blanket and I was pretty much all set! It was actually kind of fun. Having a sick day in Dollface's house instead of mine.

Did everyone watch Oprah meet her half-sister she never knew about today? That was pretty interesting, I thought! It's crazy because Oprah's done so many stories over the years and gets in everyone else's business, it's interesting to see her talk about her own self.

I went through a phase of really hating Oprah but now I'm back to thinking she's basically probably a good person. A bit annoying, but aren't we all?
Don't answer that.

Cpt. Heh took me out to dinner tonight, like a date. I told him it was a date but he refused this idea. Spoilsport! I feel kind of bad because I was super out of it and it was a bit of a waste of hangouts, like I really didn't do a good job of interacting. I was disappointed in myself. Sorry, bud.

Tonight it is my main goal to do as little as possible (breaking that plan by writing this, though, ugh) so I asked Twitter and Facebook which show I should start watching and I got some pretty good recommends, I think! I'm kind of excited to dig in.
God damn I love TV. I know it's stupid and it sucks my life away but I just love it. It will all be redeemed when I have my own shows so don't even worry about it, yo.

I watched the first recommend I got which was Misfits, a British e4 show about a group of youth doing community service. And that's all I knew about it. Which was enough.
I'm only two episodes deep but so far, so good!

I love these promo shots, even! Nice design work. I love the way it's shot, too. I love British accents and I love a bit of the supernatural in my shows. Actually in my books, too. I like books about dragons!
One time I read a book in which the boy had to sleep inside of the dead dragon who had been his bestfriend and then he came out with superpowers!
Nerd city!

hhhhhhanyway. Good show, recommend. Especially if you like sex and violence and stuff.

I have a list of other shows I want to get into now, as well. Nice to have a plan.
Hahahahaaaaa my mum told me she thought I needed to make some plans for my life.. I don't think this is what she had in mind. Maybe, though?

If you have shows to recommend, please tell me! I've watched a lot of stuff but still will always want to watch more. Especially the best stuff!

I swear I know the best people

MIXTAPE CLUB DINNER PARTY EPISODE 3!

I love mixtape club. I feel like now we've had our third edition (and even on time!) it's like we are a real live club. An actual group with a common goal and purpose. Good food and good tunes. MMHMM.

I am also officially a grown-up now because I attend and host dinner parties. That's how you know.

And sometimes at the dinner parties I look nuts.

I worked the Monster Truck Jam today and my stand was right by the doors that the kept propped open for the first few hours of the events while people were coming in. It also happened to be the coldest day in awhile. Classically sucky.
I was so, so, so cold. I thought I was such a genius for packing 3 sweater and for cutting off the finger tips of my gloves so that I could still handle money, but NOPE, awful cold.
By then end of it I was just kind of furious because I had been cold so long. Actually, no, by the end of it it was kind of funny. Especially funny because then I walked home and wasn't really cold at all.

Anyhow, all I wanted after that shift was to be warm and properly fed so I was a bit too excited to get picked up in a car by Mrs. and taken to a very warm and cozy apartment and fed soul food. Obviously!

Ohhhh lordy so good.
If you don't put bourbon in your mashed sweet potatoes, maybe you should?

I love the cute napkins, too and the cut up butter in the sundae dish. Awww.

Things weren't actually as serious as she looks about them. She was probably just waiting for cake.

"Cake??"

I had to take the photos with Hipstamatic because I did last mixtape club dinner party and now it's a tradition.

I laughed about the way that Mrs.'s sweater was bunching. I am too easily amused.

Dinner was super lovely, such a feast and so much effort gone to by our lovely hostess. Went out of her way to make sure there were gluten-free, vegetarian, and dairy-free options for our (mostly my) sensitivities.
Ever had bourbon with sicilian lemon soda? You should.
Also, the flourless cake was heavenly. Mrs. and I stayed an extra while just to split another piece. So fluffy, all almonds and orange and a lot of eggs, apparently. I suppose I need to get the recipe...

Dinner parties are also great because you're not hurrying to get anywhere. You have plenty of time to chat and have seconds and loosen your belt and stay awhile. Such a treat.
And it was a happy coincidence that our Soul-themed night should fall on such a cold cold night where we all were in need of warm food and talk.
I have to say, though, I missed Sweet Beastly very much and was very sad that he couldn't make it.

I know that I've said this before, but I don't think it's something that I should ever take for granted; I have really, really good friends these days.
I mean, I've had some solid friends now for awhile but these days, the good gets better and new people come into my life and I'm better at relating and we're all growing up so beautifully... I really really love at least a dozen people. Probably even 2 dozen people.
Imagine that! That's amazing. That there are so many people that I flat-out adore! If even half of them love me back...
How the fuck did I get so lucky?

It's funny that it's hard for me to take a break from going out because I have too many fun things to do and too many people to spend time with. What a luxurious problem to have.

I'm worried that it sounds like I'm bragging. What I mean is, I feel great gratitude for each speck of friendship.
I'm not the easiest to be friends with. I'm rude and selfish and over-honest, but I'm working to be better to people and I'm so pleased that people seem to like me!

On Friday I was crying my face off (life sucks, hormones, weather, MONEY, career, you get the drift) but even while I was so upset about my future and my job and everything I still was thinking about how at least I have some of the best people ever in my life.
I mean, there is no way that my life sucks because I have the best friends. Friends are the bosses of life being great.
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Also, how funny was 30 Rock this week? I had a dream the other night that I was on Saturday Night Live and Tina Fey came over and linked arms with me and we bumped hips and I was the happiest girl. That'd be the day.

crisps and things

It's apple season and I had a bag of apples needing to be used up so I went ahead and made a crisp!
I had a bag of frozen berries in the freezer (I always buy these when they're on sale) so I added some of those to the mix and it turned out super good.
I like to cook my crisps until everything is right mushy. My mum likes her apples to have a bit of firmness left to them. Not me! Mushy all the way.

So I'm having crisp and a chai tea latte and that's making it pretty much the best morning ever. And it is still morning. Usually I am not even up until noon (hey, I'm usually awake until 4 a.m. so leave me alone it's not like I'm the laziest. Except I am kind of the laziest) but today for some reason I woke up at a reasonable time and fought the urge to go back to sleep. Maybe iron pills are working!

Oh yeah, also I added ground chia seeds and flax seeds to my crisp topping and cut the butter with olive oil and it's pretty much the best. jfyi.

SNOWFLAKES

I DRAW SNOWFLAKES ALL DAY LONG NOT JOKING.

Also while I draw or work (waste time) on the computer usually this is going on on my lap:

I don't know when the last time I had a real lap cat was. I mean, she just hangs out on my lap all day. It doesn't really matter if I'm paying her attention or not, she just chills out. Pretty nice pretty nice.

I work well under deadlines, in case you were wondering. In fact, I won't actually get anything done until I actually have to. Therefore driving my own work on working on my own schedule is pretty much the worst. Getting better getting better.
Remember when I used to make zines of poetry and photos? I definitely never finished them until I had already planned and announced the get-together party to launch them. Ha, I like that I used to do that.

I used to have chai latte parties in high-school. Those were the best.
I love little get-togethers so very very much. We'd all pile into supertruck and go over to my mum's little house after school and I'd make chai lattes on the stove and we'd all sit around and chat. How fun!

Accidentally started watching Teen Mom on MTV last night at Dollface's while waiting for her to be done work so we could get to partying and, MAN, I would totally get addicted to that show. The sad truth is that I would probably get addicted to pretty much all reality TV if I gave myself the chance. Therefore I avoid it.
I would watch Teen Mom to perfect my middle-american accent though, that's for sure.

Oh yeah, here's a video where I officially introduce Lucinda Bright:

shops and glasses!

Apparently Mrs. is going to take me for a ride soon! To visit a store in the junction. I have never been to "the junction", I hear it is nice.
We are going to visit Russet and Empire.
I heard about this store from the Coriander Girl blog, and it just looks too nice not to pay a visit to.

Mrs. and I have have a special interest in these lovely little shops owned by cool young women as we are still very much considering opening a shop of our own but for babies and mums (read: I am trying to pressure Mrs. into going into business with me and she likes to be practical and smart about things ahahaaa).

Yeah I fully just stole all these photos off that blog, maybe I will take my own photos today if I am allowed, we will see.

Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Maybe I will buy some CHRISTMAS PRESENTS.

For Christmas this year I'm going to attempt to buy as much stuff vintage/second hand, or from smaller shops as possible. Or make as much stuff as possible. And I'm going to attempt to calm down about gifts and be okay with giving little things. Does that make sense?
I always plan more than I can handle and I go overboard with things like stockings and whatnots.

GUYSSS look what came in the mail

GLASSSES

I feel like they look different than the picture on the internet. I feel like they should put pictures of people in the glasses on the internet. Then you'd get a better sense.

I think I really like them, though. They are pretty overwhelming on my tiny face and are very dark and big, but that's kind of the good part. Sometimes your face doesn't need to be all exposed all the time.
Plus I'm like Wayne's World.

I want my other pair to come soon, too!

Clearly Contacts is clearly doing the giveaways to get good publicity and word-of-mouth marketing and I feel like it's working since it was Carlos' sister who showed me the glasses she'd got from them and so I ordered my contacts from them and then now I got super cheap glasses and man, glasses cost so much money normally.
Also, Clearly Contacts has been super-great at customer service and very very easy to use and I like the little extras that come with your order and how they just seem to actually want to do a good job.

Man, I got my last glasses and contacts (I bought two pairs of glasses plus a whole lot of contacts all at once because I'd just done a couple of commercials and felt like I could afford it) at Hakim Optical and MAN, WAS IT BAD SERVICE. Not bad in any particular way but bad because they just did not care at all and it was awkward and awkward shopping in there and everything took longer than expected. Just not a pleasant experience. Ha, sometimes I feel bad bad-mouthing things, but mostly not.

Oh, also, I want to say that I have a pretty easy prescription to fill and not-too-bad of eyes, so glasses have been pretty easy for me to wear. I can understand not wanting to pick out glasses off the internet if you are picky or have bad eyes in different ways. Obviously.

Hey, isn't it annoying that all summer there wasn't enough TV to watch and now it's all TV all the time and I don't have enough moments to watch all my favourites (and new favourites)?
Also, I still love Michael Pitt, especially right now in Boardwalk Empire. MMMMmichael Pitt.
